This year, San Francisco Ballet brings the 2021 digital season to your home. More audiences get a chance to view the entire season at home as the world's greatest classical ballet shares their spectacular performance online.
Since 1993, San Francisco Ballet has brought its audience performances, including America's first productions of Swan Lake and Nutcracker and the first 20th-century American Coppélia. With more than 100 performances annually, San Francisco ballet shares the joy and grace of dance to its audience. But what makes it different now, is its online broadcast reaching a wider virtual audience.
San Francisco Ballet 2021 Digital Season
World-renowned SF Ballet's artistic director, Helgi Tomasson leads this year's dance ensemble. The lead choreographer is excited to reach the audience across the world as this is the first time a ballet recital will be accessible online.
"Watching a story ballet captured on film will be a unique experience, as one can really see the emotions displayed by the dancers," Tomasson said.
The 2021 Season includes three world premieres by choreographers, Danielle Rowe, "The Wooden Dimes", Cathy Marston "Mrs. Robinson," and new works from Myles Thatcher. This digital performance will also include the " A Midsummer Night's Dream" by George Balanchine which was cut short by the pandemic while the master himself, Helgi Tomasson leads the performance of "Romeo and Juliet" and the film version of "Swan Lake."
SFB also brings a one of a kind family experience as it airs "The Nutcracker" from November 27 to December 31.
