Google launched the Pixel 5 5G, in the US, UK and Australia on October 15 as its most recent flagship phone, the company's best model so far. However, it is quite surprising why the tech giant chose to not include the most advanced hardware into the Pixel 5 5G, which is currently powered by the Snapdragon 765G, a mid-range chipset from Qualcomm.
Google Pixel 5 5G features
Google Pixel 5 5G has some unique features which could be at par with other phones in the market. But can it really pull off a competition with other flagship models like Apple's iPhone 12 series? Check the Pixel 5 5G features below.
Cameras
Cameras are Pixel's strongest point. For Pixel 5, it comes with a dual-camera setup: a 12.2MP main camera as well as a 16MP ultra-wide camera. Users can also get Google's 2x SuperRes zoom.
Indeed, this stands as one of the best smartphone cameras available, although it does not have pro mode. Nevertheless, one can never go wrong with Pixel 5 as it always produces great photos. The phone also comes with a new portrait light editing system that makes images more impressive. Meanwhile, it can also capture up to 4K 60 fps videos with excellent stabilization.
Performance
As mentioned earlier, Pixel 5 uses the mid-range Snapdragon 765G. Although it does not feel sluggish, the camera takes slightly longer to process images, compared to Pixel 4, which uses the more advanced Snapdragon 855 Octa-core. Also, casual gaming is fine, although hardcore gamers may find it quite slow.
Software experience
The Android 11 built in with Pixel 5 is super smooth to use, which makes Google Assistant faster. Also, the automatic transcription feature in Google Recorder app is exclusive in Pixel.
Design
Pixel 5 bears some unique design features including the symmetrical screen bezels and speaker ports, which are located on each side of the USB-C port at the bottom of the phone as well as the chrome power button similar to the G logo at the back. The 100% recycled aluminum body is textured finish, although the colors are only limited to Just Black and Sorta Sage.
Display
The impressive 6-inch screen is greatly covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 front glass. It has a small punch hole for the front camera while it supports full HDR at 90Hz display refresh rate and 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. This makes HDR viewing faster and smoother.
Battery Life
The Pixel 5 has a 4,000 mAh battery, which can last for up to two days when used lightly. It also comes with a free 18W charger, which only takes 90 minutes to full charge the phone. There are other charging options such as the 12W wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging allowing the use of Pixel Buds, Qi-compatible watches, and other devices. When the battery is too low, users may opt to activate the new Extreme Battery Saver option to save battery.

Design
Apple brought back its squared, flat design in iPhone 12 while Pixel 5 is more minimalist with thin bezels and a punch-hole camera.
Camera
Pixel 5's camera is still pretty terrific with Night Sight and Portrait Mode, which automatically blurs the background in low lighting. In contrast, the 12 Pro also has a telephoto camera, ultrawide angle camera, and Lidar technology.
Performance, processor, battery
The iPhone 12 is powered is equipped with Apple's Bionic 14 processor while Pixel 5 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, which is slower than Pixel 4.
Pixel 5 has the highest battery capacity in any Pixel phones at 4,000-mAh battery while Apple does not release battery specs, although a recent teardown revealed a capacity of 2,815-mAh.
Meanwhile, both phones are capable of wireless charging, but iPhone 12 users can avail the new MagSafe wireless charger. On the other hand, the Pixel 5 is capable of reverse charging, so it can also charge other accessories and even phones.
