Elon Musk Describes How He Took Over GM & Toyota Factory 10 Years Ago

Elon Musk's Tesla has definitely grown a couple of times over even to how it was operating 10 years ago. According to a certain Tweet by Viv @flcnhvy He previously opened the Tesla Fremont factory exactly 10 years ago. Both GM & Toyota abandoned the NUMMI plant but it was reportedly Tesla that brought the factory back to life.

Tesla's growth through the years included restoring a factory

The company back in 2010 was said to have only 1000 employees working directly under Tesla but now, in the year 2020, the company has grown to more than 10,000 employees all around the globe. The post even referenced Elon Musk's statement regarding how much he believes in manufacturing and how the whole manufacturing industry is now very much underrated.

The conversation then started with Elon Musk replying stating that the factory actually had zero employees left after GM/Toyota exited the scene. It was also stated that GM/Toyota took all of the good equipment as well as sold the rest as scrap. Elon Musk described the whole scene to look "apocalyptic".

Elon Musk reportedly had to restore almost everything in the factory

It was stated that everything that was left were just broken bolts and equipment that were also worth anything when it came to its scrap metal value. Elon Musk then stated that the company started to scourge for spare parts and were able to fix the said "trusty old bots" eventually bringing the factory back to life.

When asked if there was any equipment left in the factory that was "remotely reusable" by another Twitter user Jason Of LRRWD Y @jgrano305, Elon Musk then claimed that to the best of his knowledge, there was literally zero equipment they could deem as usable without the need for major repairs or even upgrades.
