Google users are complaining that their latest Pixel 5 smartphones have a gap between the display and the side of their devices. However, there is no confirmation yet if the embarrassing issue affects its water resistance feature.
According to Toms Guide's latest report, the XDA Forums and Google's Pixel Phone Help forum received several reports about the company's newest smartphone. The complainers sent pictures showing that the device's screen is separating from the body.
Based on the photos, the flaw is usually located around the top left corner of the Pixel 5. The issue causes a buzz on social media since it is unexpected, especially with a brand new flagship.
Google Pixel 5 users' statements
A user under the name James Bennett 7908 shared what happened to his Google Pixel 5 on the Pixel Phone Help forum.
"Was wondering if someone could take a look at this. There seems to be quite a lot of units popping up where there's a gap between the display and the frame/body," said the user.
"I'm not the owner of the above thread but I do have the issue. Can someone from Google clarify the issue," he added.
The user even asked if the issue is normal for $776.18 or £600.
Another user under the name superleeds 27 replied on a similar post in the XDA Forum. The user said that his device also has the same flaw, but it is tough to notice. He added that you still have to squint your eyes just to see it.
What will happen if Pixel 5's flaw is unresolved?
According to Phone Arena's previous report, if you're Pixel 5 happens to have the frame gap, it is advisable not to ask for a refund immediately since there's no confirmation yet if the flaw is harmful.
Although this is the case, Google still needs to clarify and explain if the owners should seek a replacement. As of the moment, the company hasn't released any update if the gap can affect Pixel 5's IP68 dust and water resistance feature.
