A recent video was uploaded to Twitter by the International Space Station welcoming the new astronauts that just arrived at the space station. Kate Rubins, the NASA astronaut, as well as Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Ryzhikov, the cosmonauts coming from the Russian space agency known as Roscosmos recently joined the Expedition63 Commander known as Chris Cassidy of NASA as well as Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Vagner, the cosmonauts, aboard the ISS.
The new astronauts arrival to the International Space Station
The new astronauts came aboard from the Soyuz spacecraft and the known orbiting laboratory at officially 7:07AM EDT. The arrival actually restores the whole station's crew complement to a total of six members for Expedition 63.
The new Expedition 64 is said to begin on Oct 21, Wednesday, with the coming departure of Vagner, Ivanishin, and also Cassidy in the known Soyuz MS-16 spacecraft that previously brought them to the known space station back on April 9.
Cassidy's return and the remaining astronauts in space
Cassidy is said to hand command of the whole International Space Station over to Ryzhikov during a small ceremony with all of the crew members that is scheduled to happen 4:15PM on Tuesday Oct 20 and is said to be aired live on the NASA Television or even through the agency's website.
According to an article by NASA, the Expedition 64 crew will actually conduct research especially in tech development, biology, Earth science, human research, and even more. During the first spaceflight of Rubins back in 2016, she actually became the very first person to be able to sequence DNA in outer space.
The research that was conducted in microgravity will help NASA to prepare for certain long-duration missions to the Moon and later on to Mars. This research contributes to the improvements for life on planet Earth as well.

The upcoming SpaceX Crew Dragon
This is actually the second spaceflight for Ryzhikov, Rubins, and Kud-Sverchkov and also will make them the 241st people to visit this unique microgravity laboratory. The known trio will be on board to actually celebrate the 20th anniversary of total uninterrupted human presence in outer space ever since the Expedition 1 crew first arrived back in Nov 2, 2020.
Humanity's known home in outer space has already hosted over 3,000 educational investigations and research from people coming from 108 different countries and areas. During the upcoming Expedition 64, NASA is expecting the arrival of the known Crew-1 aboard the recent SpaceX Crew Dragon on the very first operational commercial mission to reach the space station and bring in an additional four members.
This will expand the long-duration Expedition crew up to seven people for the very first time. The Crew-1 is currently scheduled to launch some time in November according to NASA's blog.
