NASA has had a series of pretty interesting logos but it seems like they are going back to the classic Worm for their up and coming #Artemis mission. NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine shared on his personal photo some of the first photos of the known NASA worm and the known ESA logo that will be on the up coming #Artemis I mission. The Administrator then stated that he is very much excited to see the NASA SLS rocket as well as the NASA Orion spacecraft finally take flight with the seen iconic symbols.
In an article written by NASA, it was stated that they are planning to go back to the moon as part of their upcoming Artemis program. The agency has then decided to use the "worm" logo for their very first integrated mission of the upcoming powerful SLS or Space Launch System rocket along with the Orion spacecraft. There are teams at the known NASA's Kennedy Space Center over in Florida that have already applied the historical logo in a vibrantly bright red on certain visible parts of the known Artemis I rocket as well as spacecraft.
The designed of the logo and when it was previously used
Richard Danne, of the known design team at the Danne & Blackburn previously created the original logo and said that after about three decades, the famous logotype is going back into action. It was reported to be a huge thrill for everyone that worked on the known original design in order to have it return in quite an impressive way. It was also said that the upcoming use of the logo on the Artemis program is particularly exciting and very much full of potential beginning along with the very first promising first mission.
The known "worm" logo was previously introduced back in 1975 and was also incorporated into quite the number of the agency's next-generation programs. The logo was officially retired back in 1992 but finally made a comeback this 2020 as the agency decides to usher a newer and more modern era of the known human spaceflight.
Check out the worm logo all around!
The worm has started to making appearances on the known SLS twin solid rocket boosters back in August when different workers with NASA's own Exploration Ground Systems and also their own contractor Jacobs began to start painting the known iconic design across the two different booster segments.
The team then used a lager projector in order to mask off the logo with the use of a tape, then painted the known first coat of the logo way inside the center's own Rotation, Processing and Surge Facility. It was said that the job was already completed by adding another second coat of painting which was then followed by a few more clear coats on the NASA booster.
