Amazon Introduces a $30 Mailbox-Sensor Secretly; You'll Now Receive an Alert When Mailbox's Door is Open

Amazon has previously announced new items, including the Ring Always Home Cam, a flying drone/security, Ring Car Alarm, and more. However, the company secretly includes a new item called Mailbox Sensor, on Thursday, Sept. 24, through a low-key announcement page.

The new item is similar to the Ring Motion Sensor accessory for Ring lighting products. It functions as a little sensor that relies on Amazon's Sidewalk technology to widen the user's Wi-Fi network range.

"It's something that many of our customers have asked for," said Leila Rouhi, Ring's president, via phone interview.

The Ring Mailbox Sensor is specifically designed to notify the users through their devices when the mailbox's door is open. The notification feature allows people to know when a letter arrives, in real-time. Customers could now pre-order the $30 product starting on Oct. 8.

It also works with other Ring products. For example, Ring outdoor cameras and doorbells could be used to record footage when an individual opens the mailbox.

Ring offers various smart home equipment, such as security cameras, doorbells, and many more. New products were announced on Sept. 24, which adds to the company's smart home lineup.

Here are some of the latest items you should know;

Always Home Cam

This item works together with Ring Alarm and flies to pre-selected locations, allowing users to check what is happening in their homes quickly. The product's motors even have a humming sound, allowing you to hear it easily.

Ring Car Connect

This product allows you to get alerts from your car's built-in cameras and watch the recorded video through the Ring App. It is currently compatible with Tesla models S, 3, Y, and X.

Ring Car Cam

Two HD cameras actively recording and detecting bumps, break-ins, and more, protecting your car 24/7. The Ring Car Cam allows you to see a location, get real-time alerts, check-in with Live View, and activate the alarm in the Ring App through wifi.
