Just when people thought that the Ridley Scott Alien movie sequel had ended some time ago, new information has recently surfaced confirming otherwise! Director Ridley Scott took it up with Forbes to confirm that there will indeed be a new addition to the classic space-horror saga coming out in the future.
Although fans might be curious as to what happens next, it was stated by Ridley Scott that the new film is highly unlikely that the film will cover a prequel universe that was visited by both of the most recent films of the series namely Prometheus back in 2012 and Alien: Covenant back in 2017 and might take a new direction somewhere else for a change. All of this is still pretty vague as of the moment.
Director Ridley Scott's statement about the next Alien movie
According to Scott, they have already gone down the route trying to reinvent the whole wheel with both Prometheus and also Covenant and whether or not they will go back towards that route is still quite doubtful because of the fact that Prometheus actually woke it up quite well.
It was also stated by the director that most people ask pretty fundamental questions just like the question if the Alien king, known as the facehugger or chestbuster, has actually run out of the whole steam? It was also asked by Scott if it is wise to rethink the whole thing and still simply use the word franchise. Those to him were the pretty fundamental questions about the new movie.
What we know about the upcoming Alien movie
As of the moment, there is still no definitive date being pointed out. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there is also a question of when shooting will actually begin. The cast of the film is still unknown as to the plot as well but there is one piece of information that could be useful.
All the way back in June, a sister company of CNET known as ComicBook.com, reported that there are actually two different producers that are working on the whole script idea that might actually involve the new world of dreams.
This will include the really iconic character known as Ellen Ripley (otherwise known as Sigourney Weaver). Weaver herself has also hinted that the very same month that it might actually be time to give Ripley what she said was "a rest."
The Alien franchise
Ripley Scott first kicked off this now iconic and blockbuster Alien franchise all the way back in 1979 but later on did not actually direct the three next sequels known as Aliens that showed in 1986, Aliens 3 that showed in 1992, and also Aliens resurrection that showed in 1997. About 30 years later, he then finally returned to the whole franchise for the new prequel series.
Ripley Scott hasn't been as dormant as some people may think he is being involved in a series for HBO Max known as Raised by Wolves. However, the director only reportedly directed just the two first episodes. Raised by Wolves is a series that circulates around a world in which androids actually raise children on a particular mysterious planet.
