Tesla's Texas Gigafactory lists numerous job openings, including some for a new software team, which may build a new video game, software, and user interface team.
As the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas is currently under construction, there are various job listings available to support the assembly. Aside from the physical manpower, as Electrek spotted, the company is also looking for some people who are involved in video games and user interface. These include video games engineer and rendering engineer for infotainment software as well as software engineers for mobile and vehicle user interface.
If Tesla is building a new video game team in Texas, this would be an additional gaming workforce as the company already have another team in Washington, which started the Tesla Arcade, a video game platform in Tesla vehicles as part of a new 2020.20 software update. The team is relatively new, but it already has released some games including the Fallout Shelter, which is part of the software update in May. The game can only be played while the vehicle is parked and using the touchscreen.
Hiring a new video game engineer would help the company as it "strives to make its cars the most fun possible" by adding new video game experiences to increase the fun while inside the car. For the said post, Tesla seeks a highly-motivated software engineer who can create the best video game content for the car and with valuable industry experience industry to help build the platform.
Aside from the games, this new Austin software team will also work on Tesla's infotainment system as the rendering engineer in software infotainment will be tasked to improve the software infotainment while maximizing the features in its vehicles like the graphics hardware, 17-inch display, and other recent advances.
While Tesla already had other engineering teams in Austin, they were primarily working on designing of Tesla's Self-Driving chip. However, the candidate must be an OpenGL/DirectX expert who can use his or her expertise to write rendering engines like Unreal and create real-time rendering techniques like HDR, deferred rendering, ambient-occlusion, as well as particle systems for snow and rain.

Tesla Arcade removed in Hong Kong
Earlier this month, Tesla owners in Hong Kong were surprised not to be able to access Tesla Arcade in their electric vehicles. This follows the 2020.28.6 software update on August 6, which removed the feature in Tesla cars in Hong Kong.
While it was not clear what regulation the Tesla Arcade has violated, a note advising the change shows on the screen saying: "Due to local regulations, the Tesla Arcade has been removed from your car."
Meanwhile, other tech companies said that they are also pausing the review of requirements for user data from the Hong Kong government amid the passing of a new national security law that China imposes on the region.
With Tesla Arcade, drivers and passengers can play games on the car's screen while the vehicle is parked. It even allows video games, developers, to install games to it.
