Sony's official website has recently opened its pre-order page to those who want to be the first ones that'll have the much-awaited PlayStation 5 gaming console. Interestingly, the details on the release date of the console has not yet announced via the post. But, one thing's sure, putting your name on the pre-order list is easy. The difficult part is how you will be chosen by the page.
How to pre-order Sony's PS5 console?
On Wednesday, Aug. 26, Sony has officially started to launch the pre-order tab of its upcoming PS5 gaming console. This was a very unique move from the tech giant, bypassing the retail channels that used to sell it first.
According to the website, only a limited number of PS5 consoles are ready for its pre-order status. As a way to solve things, Sony has decided to start its pre-order by requiring gamers to do one simple thing: input your PlayStation Network ID on the page.
"PlayStation®5 is coming! Register for an opportunity to be one of the first to pre-order your PS5TM console from PlayStation," said on the page.
Since its limited, the pre-order will only accommodate first-come-first-serve basis. Once you submit the Network ID and be chosen, you will receive an email telling you the instructions you need to do to get the device.
Yup, this might be the easiest way to get a pre-order on PS5-- until at least the end of this year. However, its not that easy as you think it is.
PS5 Pre-order Reservation: How to make sure you're chosen?
PlayStation 4 sold 108 million units, as of March 2020. That means if 100 million people in the United States wants to have the PS5 console for pre-order, you only have less than 1 percent of chances to be chosen.
Luckily, Sony has somehow added rules on their page saying how to get chosen out of all the gamers. But not also quite helpful.
As per the FAQs page, the selection process of PlayStation is "based on previous interests and PlayStation activities." So there's a lot of things to look at on that clue as Sony did not make a clarification on this matter.
Ars Technica said that it could be based on the years of membership, number of games owned, or even your game's win rates.
One thing's for sure is that Sony will be conducting a thorough scanning of all entries, and you might have to clean your data now before submitting.
When will it be released
So far, PS5 has not yet released any other important details about Sony's new console, including the release date or even prices.
