Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad recently set up a TikTok account and uploaded a video doing the I'm Just A Kid Challenge with his wife.
On Wednesday, Aug. 5, Dr. Mohamad's TikTok profile, with a short description that reads, "Still young" has more than 21,000 fans. Indeed, he had shown his endearing character as he posed with his wife, Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and recreated an old picture taken when they were younger.
The former prime minister published the video at his @chedetofficial account as a tribute as they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary and already has 70 likes. With the caption "64 and still going strong #LoveStory," the couple was candid as they copied their poses from the old photo.
He also shared the video in his Twitter account with 1.2 million followers, and it quickly gathered 160,000 views in just four hours. Meanwhile, after eight hours from posting, the video got over 400,000 views and more than 4,100 comments on Instagram, where the 95-year-old politician also has 1.6 million followers.
Aside from his wife, Dr. Mahatir's other love is his great love for his country. At 94, he made headlines in February as he stepped down as Malaysia's prime minister after his coalition collapsed due to internal political rivalry. He was replaced by Muhyiddin Yassin, whom he defeated in 2018, according to BBC.
Regardless of the recent turn of events, Dr. Mahathir will keep a stronghold in Malaysia's history as the longest prime minister who served from 1981 to 2003. Now, he also has the record of the shortest length of service with just two years.
