According to Comicbook, data miners found that Gyroids might return, which fans have been requesting for quite some time. Also, new food items as well as a new bush type Plumeria will be added to the game. This means farming and cooking may be allowed, probably like the Story of Seasons or Harvest Moon. Also, DIY recipes and sewing will be added, which would bring huge changes to the game.

Data miner @_Ninji's said in a tweet that wheat, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, carrots, and sugar cane will be among the food items to be added. While this change is still yet to see, it will be quite interesting to see them in the future.

This is not the first leak about farming and cooking. In April, @_Ninji hinted the arrival of some elements and food items and the datamine proved to be real, including the return of Redd. While this does not guarantee anything, it brings some truth to these hints.

Animal Crossing could have been Human Crossing

Humans were supposed to appear in the initial release of Animal Crossing in Japan, called Animal Forest, based on the massive Nintendo "Gigaleak."

According to Kotaku, Animal Forest or Dōbutsu no Mori in Japanese was released in 2001 for Nintendo 64. It was later expanded and released again for GameCube. It was probably the 2002 version of Animal Crossing that reached the United States.

Primarily, the potential existence of human characters in Animal Crossing probably came as a surprise. A game developer known as TV has been sharing on Twitter Animal Forest files linked to the Gigaleak in the past week.

On Thursday, July 30, he shared two first-draft human characters, Oba and Soldier. "Oba" wears traditional farmer attire, which is similar to Joan's outfit. Joan is a turnip sales board who regularly appears in each game, except for this year's New Horizons.

As noted by TV, "Oba" is also known as "Obaba," which is used internally for Joan in Animal Forest. Similarly, "Kabu Peddler" or "Turnip Peddler" also refers to Joan.

Meanwhile, "Soldier" wears Queen's Guard-inspired attire. These guards are those that protect Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, and other official royal residences in Britain. While Soldier may not have made it to the final version, he shows up in both the DS game Animal Crossing: Wild World and the Wii game Animal Crossing: City Folk. It was worn by Cooper and Booker, the two guard dogs that wear nearly identical outfits.

A Twitter user also shared on July 31 that AnimalCrossing: New Horizons Summer Update - Wave 2 is currently available. According to @Isabelle, the update brings firework show every Sunday of August. It will also allow visiting other players' islands in a dream. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is only available on Nintendo Switch.
