Homicide, the police says
The police and the investigators rushed into the crime scene upon hearing the news, and confirmed the death of Saleh in the New York apartment. They also confirmed that the death was homicide, but offered no further details to the media.
A power saw was seen plugged nearby, with detectives locating the CEO's torso, and discovered his head, limbs, and other body parts stored in plastic bags, the police narrated to New York city's crime departments.
The family of Saleh is grieving the loss of such a wonderful leader. His sister reportedly found the deceased body, dismembered, Tuesday afternoon. Her arrival to the apartment might have stunned the perpetrator who might have allegedly fled the exit, the media report added.
Carlos Nieves from the police department spoke with the reports, saying, "We have a torso, a head that's been removed, arms, and legs. Everything is still on the scene. We don't have a motive."
Founder and CEO
Fahim Saleh is a 33-year-old tech entrepreneur and founder of Gokada, an app that became popular in the Lagos megacity before state officials regulated motorcycle taxis known as "okada," and also in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The app is said to be funded by investments from the Gulf areas and the United States through venture capital funds. The app has one of the largest fleets of these vehicles in the African country. However, there was a moment when the company fell into the hands of regulators in Lagos.
Security camera
The police are currently investigating the alleged homicide. They are from time to time referring to security cameras showing Saleh in the apartment elevator with a man wearing a dark suit, gloves, and mask, the reports revealed.
The video also showed the masked man walking after Saleh into the unit, and then the struggle started.
The police spokeswoman declined to issue further statements, except for details on how the police found him unresponsive and unconscious, and after efforts for a possible revival, Saleh was found dead.
Aside from Gokada's statement on Twitter, there were no other statements released as of press time.
