[VIRAL] FACEBOOK BLACK MARKET: Human Bones and Dead Fetuses Sold on FB? Here Are the Details You Need to Know

Facebook groups were discovered selling looted skulls, and other human remains. According to Fox News' latest report, an American collector stole a skull with a "very dark ancient patina" after visiting Tunisia in 2013. He entered the Sousse catacombs, an ancient necropolis that holds some of the oldest Christian burials in the world, which was under renovation at that time.

In a private Facebook group, the American collector listed for sale the stolen skull for $550, and he took FB story to inform his buyers about the looting in the sales listing. According to Live Science's previous report, other members of the private Facebook groups were excited about the looted skull, posting their comments on how "beautiful" the human remains.

However, the collector didn't realize that the Facebook group used for selling the looted human skull was not private. A Live Science reporter, disguised as a collecter interested in skulls, infiltrated the private Facebook groups, including other groups alike, tracking down the human remains, which were sold online for about 10 months.

A world where human bones and other remains are usually sold with little information about their origins was unlocked by the Live Science investigation, raising questions about how they were stolen or acquired. The report confirmed that the American collector admitted that he looted the human skull. Countless of other human remains with no backstories were documented.

The human skulls are just the tip of the iceberg?

The skulls were looted in Sousse catacombs. Apart from skulls, the remains of children, infants, and fetuses were also being sold in private Facebook groups. One of the buyers commented on a post that they were looking for skeletal pieces or organs of dead children.

It was confirmed there were shoppers who successfully bought many of the children's remains on black markets on Facebook. However, the sellers and other buyers didn't disclose any information about their motives for collecting fetus or child remains. A mummified child, which was said six years old when he or she died in the 1700s, was sold at a higher price. The mummified remain was posted for 11,000 euros or $12,400. The seller stated on the post, in all caps, that the mummified child was "NOT A GRAVE ROBBERY," however, there was no information about the origin which was given.

Live Science talked to a number of experts, stating that the social media platform must enforce its existing policy to ban the sale of human remains on Facebook.

Archeologist Shawn Graham of Carleton University in Ontario and Damien Huff of Carleton University said that the law enforcement agencies need to be more efficient at implementing existing laws against the sale of human remains.
