Pokemon HOME is Down After Shiny Zeraora Release, But Here's How You Can Get the Pokemon

Fans of Pokemon Sword and Shield are in luck as they could get a free mythical Pokemon through Pokemon Home for a limited time only as a reward for around one million trainers who have defeated the mythical Pokemon Zeraora.

A shiny Zeraora is free via Pokemon Home

According to GameSpot, those who have Pokemon Sword and/or Pokemon Shield could claim their own free Shiny Zeraora through the mobile version of the game, Pokemon Home, until July 6 only. But how can you claim yours?

Based on the report, players who have transferred a Pokemon from Pokemon Home to either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield and vice versa between June 17 to July 6 are entitled to get the free Pokemon regardless of whether you have joined the Max Raids this month or not. If you haven't done any transfers yet, be sure to do so on or before July 6 to qualify.

Once you've accomplished the first step, here are the things you need to do to claim a Shiny Zeraora from your Pokemon Home:

  • Tap on the Menu bottom that you can see on the bottom of the screen.
  • Choose "Mystery Gift"
  • Tap on the Gift Box
  • Tap the Pokemon that will appear on the Gift Box and then just tap the Receive button.

You'll also receive some Armorite Ore

Besides the shiny Zeraora, you should also receive several Armorite Ore, which is a new item that was introduced in the first-ever Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC, Isle of Armor expansion and has quite a few uses.

You can use an Ore as payment to a Non-Playable Character (NPC) inside the Master Dojo, and they will teach your Pokemon a brand new move, or you could also give it to Digging Pa for some Watts, which is essential for upgrading the dojo.

Then again, be sure to do all the steps on Pokemon Home until July 6 at 4:59 PM PT. Besides Zeraora, you should also get all three Galar starters, namely Scorbunny, Grookey, and Sobble, once you make any transfers.

App down

Nevertheless, the app is apparently down after the release of the free shiny Zeraora to players. According to Heavy, several Pokemon Home users took to Twitter to express their frustration after they couldn't open the app, which only shows the error code 500 for those who are attempting to log in, while others got error code 800.

Among them is the founder of the Pokemon resource website Serebii, Joe Merrick.

Apart from the Pokemon Home app on mobile devices, it also seemed like the app for Nintendo Switch is also inaccessible for now due to the influx of people trying to log into the app and get their free mythical Pokemon. Apparently, it's what happened with the mobile version.

As of this writing, Pokemon Home is still undergoing some maintenance work, so players might not be able to log in yet. However, the issue shouldn't last very long, especially as the free mythical Pokemon is only available for a limited time.
