South Korean K-pop girl group Blackpink has recently made their comeback after a year, and with the premiere of their new single, How You Like, came new records and achievements for the girls.
Blackpink Breaks YouTube Record
According to Variety, Blackpink now holds the record on YouTube for the most views in 24 hours and has dethroned their fellow K-pop group, BTS, who are also well-known for their massive worldwide following.
How You Like That was able to acquire 82.4 million views within the first 24 hours and instantly became the number one trending video on the video-sharing site.
Meanwhile, BTS' Boy With Luv, which featured American singer Halsey, was pushed back to the second place with 74.6 million views on its first 24 hours on the platform when it was released in April 2019.
By the first 30 hours, Blackpink's new single already has 94 million views, and after one day, eight hours and 22 minutes since the release, How You Like That has already surpassed 100 million views, making it the fastest YouTube video to do the feat.
BTS also once held the spot with Boy With Luv as it took them one day, 13 hours, and 38 minutes only to reach the 100 million views mark.
Overtaking Spotify and iTunes
Besides overtaking YouTube, Blackpink's How You Like That has also become massive on the music streaming platform Spotify, landing number 5 on the global Spotify chart and then climbing to number 2 on its second day of release.
According to Forbes, the song has amassed 4.89 million streams globally on Spotify last Sunday, where it's just behind Rockstar from DaBaby and Roddy Ricch, which has ruled Spotify for two weeks straight.
Meanwhile, Blackpink broke its own record with American pop star Lady Gaga on iTunes.
The news outlet further reported that How You Like That debuted as the number 1 song on iTunes in over 60 countries, a place that once belonged to their collab song with Gaga called Sour Candy.
The girl group has become extremely massive not just in their home country and the surrounding Asian nations, but also in the US and even in the middle east, as the song has debuted on top of the list in UAE's iTunes song chart, according to Gulf News.
Massive Support From Global Fans
Additionally, the song has a high chance of becoming Blackpink's highest entry for the Billboard Hot 100, which is something they have already achieved with Sour Candy.
It was even chosen by the fans on Billboard as the song of the week after getting a total of 72.43% of the votes, while Charlie Puth's new song Girlfriend came in second with 10.5%.
Blackpink's How You Like That is written by TEDDY and Danny Chung and is part of the girl group's debut full-length album, which will be released in September through YG Entertainment, who handles the girls.
As of writing, the music video already has 142 million views on YouTube.
