AirPods aren't cheap, so owners do everything they can to prolong life. Now, Apple is helping owners with a new feature included in iOS 14 that should do the trick.
How iOS 14 Could Help Prolong AirPods' Battery Life
According to The Verge, the newly announced iOS 14 update includes a new feature that will help prolong the battery life of a pair of AirPods by allowing the operating system to learn when you typically charge your AirPods and when it should stop charging it.
It means that the OS will stop charging the devices for a while when it hits 80% and would then resume charging later on.
This avoids wireless earphones from sitting for a long time at 100%.
AirPods, like most modern devices today, uses a lithium-ion battery that experts believe should not always be charged up to 100% and that you can easily prolong your device's battery life by minimizing topping off.
Several Apple products like MacBooks and iPhones already use the same technology with a feature known as Optimized Battery Charging, helping keep the batteries from wearing out prematurely.

A Few More tips
Macworld also offered a few tips to help keep your battery life longer.
For one, don't keep on opening the case when your AirPods are charging as it could disrupt the charging process, which would then lead to battery damage.
You should also keep your devices in a dry place where it's not too cold, or it's not too hot, as that may also long-term damage, so don't keep your wireless earbuds in direct sunlight or anywhere extremely cold when you're not using it.
The AirPods will have a few features that could help you but aren't really necessary.
To avoid using up all the battery and having it charged again and again in short intervals, turn off those unnecessary features and try to use a lower volume as it could also drain the earbuds fast.
Plus, lowering the volume could also help save your hearing.
New iOS 14 Features Revealed
According to MacRumors, iOS 14 is expected to be released for the public in September and will have several new features and is one of the biggest releases yet.
Among the changes Apple users should expect is the redesigned home screen, which includes support for widgets that can be dragged from the Today view to the Home screen and can be customized in different sizes.
There is also the addition of the App Library that allows users to see all of the apps they have on their device at a glance.
Apple devices will also have new space-saving devices, so incoming phone calls, as well as Siri requests, won't be taking up the entire screen, with phone calls showing up only as a banner on top of your iPhone's display.
Meanwhile, Siri requests will show a small, animated Siri on the bottom of the screen.
There are a few more new features in store for Apple users, including Picture in Picture mode, App Clips, and even a smarter Siri.
