Electronic Arts announced a new Skate game in one of the company's more unexpected revelations from EA Play Live. Yes, it is really happening.
The new Skate game announced at the very end of EA Play Live is in very early stages of development. No video has been seen yet. However, the publisher hasn't announced the platforms it will come to or when it will be released.

Skate is back!
Creative director Cuz Parry said in a video they have returned and said, "Skate is happening." He has also thanked the fans for their support and enthusiasm. "We've been waiting [for] years to make the right game, at the right time, with the right idea," Game director Deran Chung added. However, he warned the fans not to expect to play Skate anytime soon. "It's really, really early for the new Skate game," he explained.
Parry went on to say the latest Skate is happening for it because of the fan fervor. "You commented this into existence," he added. There's no news yet about when the new Skate would be launched or on which platforms it will be published. Neither Chung nor Parry shared any information about the "right idea" that they actually came up with.
The most recent Skate title was the 2010 Skate 3 released on PS3 and Xbox 360. Fans have been clamoring for a new game for years, and it eventually happens. This new skate game announcement comes after rival Activision has revived its own skateboarding series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. This year the franchise returns with a remaster package for PS4, Xbox One, and PC from Tony Hawk 's Pro Skater 1 + 2.

While the words Skate 4 have never been explicitly used, that's what the fans would call the game for now before getting confirmation otherwise. EA claims fans "commented on the game 's coming into being," and the reviews have poured since the announcement.
