The 2014 award-winning sci-fi film 'Snowpiercer' is now taking a different look on television. Starting on May 17 through TNT, the newest 'Snowpiercer' TV series will be aired in the United States, while the British viewers may watch through Netflix on May 25.
Award-winning 'Snowpiercer' film now has its TV series!
Snowpiercer TV series will start to air on both Netflix and TNT for selected countries only.
This TV series was adapted from the original 'Snowpiercer' film of 2014 created by Parasite Oscar-award winning director Bong Joon-ho. The film starred Captain America Chris Evans as the main protagonist of the film, looking to survive from the 'tail' section.
Just like the movie adaptation, Snowpiercer TV series also shows the remaining people on the planet stuck inside a running train to survive the extremely cold weather outside.
For those of you who haven't watch the film, here are some spoilers from the 2014 movie.
The Earth was already on its second Ice Age, wherein almost the entire population of the world froze due to the extreme winter season. Those people that survived the cold weather stayed in quality, and a very long train-- travels around the world-- wherein all their needs like food, heat, water, and shelter are provided by the train owner named Wilford.
Unfortunately, not all people that stayed inside the train were happy by the governance of 'The Engine.' In order to limit the resources inside the Wilford train, all citizens were categorized based on their social status. Evans, playing as Curtis, came from the 'tail' section or the last people on the train.
These people were explained as the poorest of the poor. With the injustice happening inside the Wilford, Curtis and other people from the 'tail' section managed to set a revolution against Wilford and his minions. Along their way through the engine section wherein Wilford resides, they met Namgoong, (played by Parasite actor Song Kang-ho) a captive security specialist that designed the doors inside the train.
After they reached the final part of the Engine room, Curtis found out that the revolution was all planned at the very beginning by Wilford and the spiritual leader of the tail, Gillam. To lessen the population and serve balance in the train.
What the new cast of 'Snowpiercer' has to say?
The new cast of Snowpiercer TV series will be played by actors Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, and Alison Wright.
According to the New York Post, Wright was excited when she was offered the character from the series since she also loves to be cast by the Parasite director.
"It was pretty great [to watch Joon-ho's star rise during awards season]," says "The Americans" actress Wright. "Everyone was very excited about it. 'Parasite' was a big hit."
