Is Grand Theft Auto V, The 'Mystery Game' Epic Games Store is Giving Away for Free?

Another free game will be coming soon on the Epic Games Store, and if you check either the website or Epic Games' launcher desktop app, a "Mystery Game" is featured with a countdown timer underneath it.

Is Grand Theft Auto 5 Epic Games Store New Free Game?

A few days ago, there were rumors that the free mystery game is none other than Grand Theft Auto 5--and now, it appears that Epic Games Store has confirmed the rumors.

According to Comicbook, fans discovered an Epic Games Store tweet from their official Twitter page promoting GTA 5 as a free game that fans can completely download for free starting tomorrow, May 15, until May 21.

Besides the tweet, the storefront hasn't announced it yet and is likely planning to unveil the mystery free game tomorrow.

In addition, the post has actually been deleted and is not available now--but not until some people were able to take a screenshot as a receipt.

Although fans are confident it would be Grand Theft Auto 5, we can't know for sure until we see it on the storefront, so despite the confirmation, which has since been deleted, still take the news with a grain of salt.

As of writing, we have around ten hours until the Mystery Game is revealed, anyway.

How to Get the Game for Free

Nevertheless, if it is indeed GTA 5, fans can finally download it without paying for anything--and no, it's not just a free demo or free trial of the game. Anyone who downloads it from May 15 to 21 can keep the full game forever.

Just like with past free games, you don't exactly have to install the game within the allotted time since once you grab it, it will sit on your Library until you're ready to have it installed.

In a report by Forbes, the rumor mill started turning when an unnamed source said that the free mystery game is actually Grand Theft Auto 5, and it actually made sense seeing as Epic Games Store is making a huge deal about it with the "Mystery Game" title and the countdown.

The news comes after the game stopped its stint on Game Pass.

To get Epic Games Store's free game, all you need is an account to log into the storefront and grab the game when it becomes available.

GTA 5 Alien Bodysuits Also for Free

While we're at the subject of free stuff, Grand Theft Auto 5 is actually giving away free Green and Purple Alien Bodysuits online, which were usually for $360k each.

According to Daily Star, players only have until today to nab the free costumes and join in going war between the Aliens--or you can even choose to be a FIB agent (the game's parody of the FBI) and beat up any glowing alien on the fictional streets of Los Santos.

Get one by simply going to a clothing store and checking the bodysuit out.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is developed by Rockstar Games and was initially released in September 2013 and is an online action-adventure game.

It is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
