Dambuster Studios job listing indicates Dead Island might be coming soon to next-gen consoles

The current developer of Dead Island, Dambuster Studios, has just opened a job listing for an art director position that describes part of the duties as new working on "the next installment in the world-renowned Dead Island franchise." There are at least 8 job listings currently available.

This could mean big time for Dead Island 2 if they officially announce the game for both current and next-gen console hardware. Combined with a trailer or even something close would be so big that it could even bring it back into the conversation.

Dead Island 2 has been a long time coming

Dead Island 2 was first announced back in E3 2014 which means, its been 6 years on fans' waiting lists. It was delayed so much that people were starting to actually think that Dead Island 2 had been canceled.

Although the companies did step forward to address concerns about the progress of the game, Deep Silver and Sumo Digital, its publisher and developer respectively, confirmed to everyone that the forthcoming zombie RBG requel to its original name, Dead Island 2, is not in fact canceled and is currently still in development.

They have been stuck in development for a long time now but Koch Media said that everyone is dedicated to releasing a very good product. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of the company, stated in an interview that "Dead Island is a very important brand for us and we've got to get it right. It's just a testimony of our dedication to getting it right."

He then went on to explain that they would rather be judged by the end product than how much time it took to develop Dead Island 2.

The game has been tossed around and swapped from different studies multiple times in the past 6 years. It just goes to show how complex and demanding game development can be. Time will only tell how this zombie-killing RPG will turn out.

Looking back, there haven't been many updates on the game as of late. It was confirmed back in August that Dead Island 2 was still in development by a whole other team called Dambuster Studios, but beyond that, no other updates were made. However, Dead Island 2's old and original developer, Techisland, is currently working on Dying Light 2, with the same publisher, Koch Media.

While this job listing doesn't guarantee that the game will be coming to both generations of consoles, it does seem to go in that direction.
