Introducing the PlayStation 5 DualSense

According to Sony's recent blog post, the gaming company has started to ship their new controllers in its final design, and they wanted everyone in the PlayStation community to have a first look at the DualSense wireless controller.

They also wanted everyone to understand their vision for the new controller that, according to them, will captivate more of the players' senses as they interact with virtual worlds through various PS5 games that will arrive soon.

"When PS4 launched in 2013, the DualShock 4 wireless controller garnered a lot of positive feedback from gamers and developers for being the best PlayStation controller yet, and for introducing forward-looking features like the Share button," Sony wrote in their blog post. 'This brought us to the next question - how do we build upon that success?"

They also decided to keep aspects of the DualShock 4 that gamers loved. At the same time, they added new functions while also refining the design of the controller. They added haptic feedback which allows the players to feel powerful sensations when they play.

They have also integrated adaptive triggers into the L2 and R2 buttons so you can feel the tension in every action you take, like when you drive a car through mud or draw a bow to shoot an arrow.

The DualSense will also have an integrated microphone -- a first for Sony's controllers with a USB-C port. When it comes to the share button, it has been renamed to the "create button," which will allow players to share their impressive gameplay content with everyone.

New colors for PS5 controllers for the first time ever

Sony's controllers have traditionally been a single color. This time, they have gone in a different direction and decided to redesign it with a two-toned color, in addition to a light bar now sits as each side of the touch pad which adds a sleek look to the consol.

According to Sony, "we went through several concepts and hundreds of mockups over the last few years before we settled on this final design. DualSense has been tested by a wide range of gamers with a variety of hand sizes, in order for us to achieve the comfort level we wanted, with great ergonomics. Our goal with DualSense is to give gamers the feeling of being transported into the game world as soon as they open the box."

The goal is to make all gamers to feel as if the controller is an extension of their body whenever they play.
