Capcom has just released the Resident Evil 3 Remake. Still, it seems like the fans of the Resident Evil franchise can expect another game from the developers--and this time, it's finally a sequel to the series instead of another remake.
The Rumor Mill Featuring Resident Evil 8
According to a report by PCGamer, a Resident Evil 8 is rumored to be currently in the making, coming from a regular leaker, AestheticGamer a.k.a. Dusk Golem, who has previously leaked the early arrival of Resident Evil 3 Remake.
However, the leaker wasn't always right, so it seems after he predicted that there are multiple Silent Hills titles being developed, since Konami has refuted the statement by the infamous leaker, as per Eurogamer.
Nevertheless, AestheticGamer said that Resident Evil 8 came to be as a rebranding of a spin-off game, which was supposed to be called Resident Evil Revelations 3, but Capcom was apparently impressed by the early version that they decided to make it part of the mainline series.
First-Person View and Slated for 2021
As with Resident Evil 7, the sequel will also feature a first-person view.
"It is first-person, and many purists are going to hate it because it's taking some serious departures in the story/enemies and the like. Hallucinations, Occultism, insanity, and not being able to trust others are huge thematics of the game," the leaker said.
Apparently, a gameplay sequence has also been shared with AestheticGamers by his sources. In a sequence, players will be in a village surrounded by "beast-men, zombies in armors and swords and a witch that laughs a lot" as you make your way to a castle via multiple routes.
Fans can also expect Ethan Winters to come back, Resident Evil 7's protagonist.
What's more, the leaker also said that it would be available for current and next-generation consoles in 2021.

Will We Hear From it Soon?
According to IGN, it seems like the leaker's source for this rumor are Capcom ambassador program members or playtesters.
Additionally, he also said that the "little game is done" and that there should be more details about it later on by Capcom.
People are expecting to hear a word about Resident Evil 8 from the developers at E3, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event has been cancelled, as what BBC previously reported.
With that, fans of the Resident Evil franchise are left wondering whether the rumor is true and if so, when and how they will know about it, or whether Capcom will debunk it and stop the rumor mill from going on.
As of now, Capcom has not commented yet.
Since these are still speculations, fans are advised to take this with a pinch of salt.
How is Resident Evil 3?
Nevertheless, the Resident Evil 3 Remake was just released to the public and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Although highly-anticipated after the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, some critics were not a big fan, with The Verge saying it's "a lot less substantial" than its predecessor.
Plus, it may not be the best game to play during the coronavirus pandemic as it might hit too close to home.
