A few months since Rick and Morty season 4 abruptly stopped, Adult Swim has finally released a new trailer for the other half of season 4 along with the return date, which is on May 3.
Adult Swim Announces Rick and Morty's Return
The trailer and return date announcement of Rick and Morty season 4 happened during the re-airing of the recently released Rick and Morty bloody samurai-themed short, which involves Ricks killing other Ricks and fountains of blood.
According to Newsweek, Jason DeMarco of Adult Swim has revealed that they have worked for a year to put together the five-minute short that was pretty much based on the classic manga, Lone Wolf & Club.
If fans weren't able to catch the initial airing and the re-airing of the samurai short, it is now available on Adult Swim's official YouTube channel.
The bloody Rick and Morty short was a welcome surprise for the fans when it was suddenly aired on March 28 during Adult Swim's Toonami block, especially since everyone is still waiting for the next five episodes that they have promised for season 4.
But now, fans need to wait just a little longer to join the adventures of the universe's smartest man, Rick Sanchez, and his trusty sidekick and grandson, Morty.
Will Season 4B Answer Some Questions?
Comicbook reported that the announcement came as part of an annual April Fool's tradition back in Adult Swim when the creators tend to reveal new information on the eve of April Fool's day.
In the first half of season 4, the duo and their family had some crazy adventures, including nearly losing Morty's sanity to a death crystal, Summer's short-lived affairs after his father created an app that nearly destroyed the world, and starting an all-out snake war on a faraway planet.
But despite the crazy antics, talking cats, and disturbing soul-binding with dragons, the show never forgets to dive deeper into Rick's growing loneliness.
However, connections to the past season are slightly missing, except perhaps for the return of Mr. Poopybutthole, who is now a professor.
Perhaps the next five episodes will finally answer a few questions fans have, especially whether or not Beth is a clone and what has happened to the real Beth, as well as what will happen now that the Evil Morty is leading the Citadel, plus a lot more questions about the Rick and Morty universe.
Nevertheless, the new trailer is building up the hype with Gundam-ish transformations, a four-armed Rick, face-huggers, and even lightsaber battles.
Morty's Important Message
Meanwhile, Rick and Morty's social media accounts have one important message to share with their fans amid the coronavirus pandemic, which is forcing everyone to stay indoors and to maintain social distancing: Just get it together and wash your hands.
In an Instagram post on Mar. 20, a little clip from a previous episode of Rick and Morty was uploaded, along with a timer for 20 seconds, and a caption that encourages everyone to wash their hands as a safety measure against COVID-19.
As per WHO, washing your hands for at least 20 seconds is the best way to kill coronaviruses. So, play the clip. Say the lines along with Morty, and ensure you and your family are safe.
