Nowadays, having your office meetings while at home is the safest and easiest way to continue working despite the COVID-19 epidemic gripping the whole world. And if you're stuck at home and running on a team meeting, you need to look professional--not like a potato. Unfortunately, there will always be an instance that you you'll embarrass yourself in front of your coworkers. Once you're in that situation, you might as well embrace it--just like this boss in a teleconferencing app.
Forget Annoying Orange; This boss accidentally turned herself into a talking potato!
Trending now on Twitter is the most humiliating but funniest teleconferencing event that can ever happen to anyone. A boss used Microsoft Teams to have video call with her team. During the course of the call, she accidentally turned on the "potato" filter and could not seem to change it back.
According to Rach Clegg (@pettyclegg on Twitter) who shared the viral potato mishap, her boss, Lizet Ocampo, called everyone on her team for a meeting on Monday, March 30, but accidentally turned on the filter feature.
Since it was a serious general meeting, everyone on the line along with Clegg had to focus on finishing their agenda while a talking potato pretended to be their boss. The tweet has now reached over 800,000 likes and more than 180,000 retweets.
The boss has something to say: "Stay planted at home!"
Recognizing the humor in the situation, Ocampo accepted her mistake and even messaged everyone during lockdown to "stay planted at home"--just like a potato.
And although Clegg's original tweet caused some embarrassment, she she posted a follow-up tweet saying that Ocampo was in good spirits after posting the screenshot from her laptop.
Other funny things you can do with a video calling app
Aside from the case of Ocampo accidentally turning herself into a talking root crop, there are other ways you can make teleconferencing calls more fun--enjoy funny backgrounds while in a meeting or even in class, for example.
You can use Zoom--one of the most popular video conferencing apps at the moment. In a tweet from writer Rik Ferguson, he shared how the app could be used to edit your background as if you're really in class or in an office. Make sure to be responsible in choosing the appropriate background, though.
