The coronavirus has swept the world infecting without preference the masses exposed to this virus. A recent video that surfaced shows a mother with her son of age one who was positive of the coronavirus (COVID-19) while she initially thought that the pain that her son felt was basic teething pain.
How did this mother find out?
The mother's name is Jessie Mitchel, and it was her son Perran who had developed a high temperature on Sunday, Mar. 22--it was Mother's Day in the United Kingdom. According to the South West News Service, the temperature got her worried because her son had been experiencing discomfort from teething.
Jessie Mitchel said that they had only gone outside for a walk when the temperature started to rise, but initially, they did not think it was too severe, so they did not give it much attention. The 32-year-old resident of Looe Cornwall was initially not too alarmed by the rise in temperature.
Later on, as Mitchel took her son for a walk, he started getting really lethargic as well as excessively cuddly, which was not his usual attitude. Perran's temperature then started to rise horrendously.
The poor child started to experience breathing difficulties as well as cough while dealing with an extremely high temperature. According to the mother, "There is a lot of advice out there, but it is not clear for children and babies. He is only 1," referring to the availability of advice for adults and lack of advice for children.
Perran's condition and how the mother dealt with it
Mitchel pointed out that most people still think that babies are immune to this virus, and she had to clear out the misconception from firsthand experience that babies are immune to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Jessie Mitchel was pretty shocked to have this horrible thing happen to her son, and now she is urging everyone to follow the guidelines and saying that the virus is not picky. "Anyone can get it - young or old."
Perran's dad has also taken measures to make sure that people take the coronavirus (COVID-19) seriously by becoming vocal on Facebook in hopes of reaching a wider audience. Perran's dad said that "The infection has got to him through means we cannot comprehend. This is real."
Singapore's comments on the virus-infected children
According to the experts with the KK Women's and Children's Hospital as well as the National Centre for Infectious Diseases in Singapore, "While most adults with COVID-19 infection have a fever, respiratory symptoms and/or chest X-ray changes, current data suggest that the majority of the infected children have mild or no symptoms."
According to an infectious disease expert at UCLA known as Dr. Otto Yang, "In general, the younger you are, the less severe your symptoms are. But that's not because you don't get infected. It's because the infection doesn't cause you to get sick."
