Facebook Highlights New Immersive Oculus VR Experience That Allows You To Watch One Gameplay While You Check Out Your FB posts and More Features

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Game Developer's Conference or the GDC, along with other well known and highly anticipated events, was canceled. Though Facebook took this chance and had opted to host the first-ever online GDS or the Game Developers Showcase.

There is a lot in store for Virtual Reality gamers

The Oculus Quest was one of the best releases of last year wherein Virtual Reality has indeed stepped up their game. According to the latest update, the entirety of the Oculus Quest system experience has been enhanced to give users the ability to multitask better, connect with other users and players, faster navigation between applications and just do more.

When it comes to the Universal Menu, they redesigned everything to make it look like a personal dashboard that enables the player to navigate along with alluring environments as well as 2D applications, and device control.

This design has also been built to organize every data and information more clearly, especially when it comes to apps like TV, Browser, Store and Explore.

Another newly developed feature is the overlays where it has been designed to bring up content on your VR without having to leave any application that you are currently in. Which makes everything easier to navigate and control the entire system.

Multitasking has been made easier with the multiple-window support that Oculus Browser is now sporting. You can watch one gameplay in your first tab and check out your Facebook posts and updates on the other, plus you can even add a third and rearrange everything seamlessly.

This will all start rolling out this month so be sure to keep an eye on it!

Other Game Updates

Facebook's Game Developers Showcase id packed with a lot of game updates which include announcements from Echo VR, The Room VR, B-Team, Pistol Whip and a whole lot more.

Timbaland Music Pack will also be available for Beat Saber. This new exciting music pack from American rap star and producer Timabalnd will be another highlight for Beat Saber players.

There are some latest content for Developers as well

Gamers are not the only ones who should be excited about this online showcase, developers will also have exciting new stuff, hence, the name Game Developers Showcase. Prototype OpenXR, In-App Purchases, and Downloadable Content are in-store for devs.

Prototype OpenXR will be launching for developers later this month and this will enable them to develop high-end applications that can actually run on multiple platforms. This will also aid them in reducing overheads as well as giving users and consumers the freedom of choice.

Another thing that will be coming later this month is two new options in the Developer Dashboard with regards to add-ons such as downloadable add-ons on content management, In-App Purchases combined with DLCs or Downloadable Content which will be under one management function.

Game Developers Showcase from Facebook was launched online last March 16-19. For more information, click here.
