The whole new Apple iPad Pro's LIDAR scanner has an interesting feature which can turn the floor of a living room into an augmented reality version of steaming Hot Lava which was a video game based on a childhood pastime which involved jumping from furniture to furniture while avoiding the floor.
The entertaining feature was included in iPad Pro's recent announcement to the public.
According to this new announcement, Hot Lava will be available on Steam

The game works as a promotional feature
The game is being used as a clever way to show off the interesting capabilities of the LIDAR scanner to potential buyers of the iPad Pro. The interesting game allows a player to scan their own living rooms with an Apple iPad as the app generates an illusion of hot lava on the floor.
Other uses for LIDAR
Aside from the AR version of Hot Lave, there have also been other features shown by Apple to showcase how versatile the LIDAR can be. The LIDAR scanner is also being used by journalists and many others as the interesting features go well with different needs.
One of the most unique and practical uses for the LIDAR is for the CAP app Shapr3D which scans a room in order to make a 3D model of the room within the app! Users can even edit the model within the app and add on a few objects to the room and even view those changes in the actual room with the use of AR.
Another interesting feature includes anatomy
In another demo, the anatomy app Complete Anatomy was using the LIDAR scanner for the app to be able to measure the range of motion of an individual's arm in real time! This should be a useful feature as it showcases that the LIDAR is not only for inanimate objects but for live objects as well.
