Is Italy The Only One That Got Its Initial Response To Coronavirus Wrong? Empty Las Vegas Restaurants, Stadiums, and Delta Flights!

An article about the apocalyptic scenes in Italy is going viral and argues that as coronavirus cases grow, what the author has just witnessed in the heavily stricken city could present a glimpse of Britain's future. Not too fast! Look around, and it is actually happening already, not only in Europe but to the rest of the world! This especially holds now that WHO just confirmed that the disease that started in Wuhan, China, is now a pandemic.

Below are only a few of the horrifying scenes so far:

Las Vegas Asian restaurants face layoffs, shutdowns

Family-owned businesses struggle to stay open in Las Vegas Valley. Some implemented massive layoffs, while others are facing the threat of shutdowns.

The Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce (LVACC) found in a survey that dining establishments in Chinatown and valley-wide have their profits slumped 40% slump. It's much worse to restaurants on the strip where profits plunged to over 50%.

The drop is blamed on fewer Asian tourists and local patrons.

LVACC Head Sonny Vinuya remarked: "It does hurt. How do we communicate to all the people [that] we are okay? Not every Asian has the coronavirus.".

Empty stadiums

Baseball is opening in two weeks, but the Mariners already announced that they are moving their six home game this month to another place as the state of Washington declared ban on crowded events. The NBA is also reportedly moving games to cities with less number of coronavirus cases.
Rick Morrissey of Chicago Sun Times commented: "For the common good, it's best that, if the games are to go on, they go on without fans in attendance. It will be eerie - and if you really think about it, nonsensical. Who is more likely to spread the coronavirus - two fans sitting next to each other or two NBA players trading sweat?"

Delta Airlines Flying Empty

Dr. Scott Anderson, a plane passenger from Utah going to Florida, has posted a video on Twitter last Monday showing an almost deserted aircraft. 'This does not happen very much anymore. Flight to Orlando mostly empty. Over 100 seats unused,' he said!

In the U.S., 31 people so far succumbed to the deadly disease, including a Californian elderly woman and a horse trainer from New Jersey. The state so far reported over 1,000 cases, but some researchers warned that the real number is underestimated as many people carrying the virus remain undetected. They said that it could be ten times higher.

Globally, almost 120,000 people have been infected by the sars-like virus and killed more than 4,200 in various countries.
