[BREAKING NEWS] 18 ISIS Rockets Kill 2 Americans 1 Brit: Has the Coronavirus Made us forget About Terrorism?

Two Americans as well as one British personnel were killed after 18 Katyusha rockets were fired into an Iraqi housing where the United States troops were staying. The happening was so sudden that proper counter-terrorist measures were not able to be completely observed while fighting against ISIS in Iraq. The unfortunate troops who died on foreign soil should be a reminder that the coronavirus or Covid-19 is not the only enemy we are dealing with.

The strike was intentional and even though there were three unfortunate deaths, the 18 Katyusha rockets could have caused more damage if they were not able to respond as quickly as possible to this attack. The lives of these soldiers was an unfortunate loss not just to the United States or the United Kingdom but a loss to the world in the battle against terrorism.

Col. Myles Caggins addressed the matter on Twitter

The Operation Inherent Resolve or OIR spokesperson known as Col. Myles Caggins said in a tweet, "The Coalition @CJTFOIR confirms more than 15 small rockets impacted Iraq's Camp Taji base hosting Coalition troops, March 11 at 7:35 p.m. (Iraq Time)," to give proper confirmation of the situation. The whole situation happened during the cover at night making the ISIS rockets harder to detect.

According to the United States Central Command, after more investigation, the Iraqi Security Forces were able to come across a rocket-rigged truck located just a few miles outside Camp Taiji which was where the Coalition personnel were staying for training and advising missions. The impact of the rockets were thankfully not as massive as they should have been.

The attack came as a follow-up to previous deaths

About a few days ago, United States service members died in a clash accompanying the Iraqi Security Forces on a mission to eliminate the whole ISIS terrorist stronghold which was a mountainous area located at north-central Iraq last Sunday. The attack left two United States service members dead but was mildly successful in terms of overpowering ISIS

The United States military is still skeptical about the attack

The United States military has not yet confirmed if the recent attack was really done by ISIS or could there have been other powers at play to launch those rockets towards the Iraqi housing. In a tweet by Jennifer Griffin, it is suggested that ISIS does not have the capability of launching such an attack.

The whole camp is still under investigation

A proper investigation has been launched to asses other clues which could lead towards the true attackers behind this rocket ISIS or not. So far, the most likely suspect is ISIS but the truth might surprise us if ever the investigation points out another enemy in play.

The 12 wounded are slowly recovering

There have been 12 other soldiers that were wounded during this rocket attack which is a significant number to take this matter with utmost sincerity. The coronavirus or Covid-19 has definitely been the focus of the world today but terrorism should not be forgotten no matter what.
