Are You Willing to Drink Your Own Pee to Become an Astronaut? NASA's Upgraded ISS Filtration System Turns Pee into Water!

Ever dreamt of becoming an astronaut? Are you ready to face the many difficulties an astronaut has to face? NASA takes pride in their choice of astronauts and only the best of the best is allowed onboard as the gravity of responsibility for an astronaut is already quite heavy to bear. One of the many required traits is the willingness of astronauts to adjust for scientific purposes in certain instances like being able to drink from the upgraded international space station or ISS filtration system that turns pee into water!

Water is one of the most precious resource on the international space system or ISS

Water is treated as gold out in space since the very source for water comes all the way from Earth meaning it has to be properly rationed and properly consumed to make sure the amount of water is kept at a healthy level for astronauts to avoid dehydration. Although the thought of drinking your own pee might discourage most individuals from becoming astronauts, it should be understood that this is an upgraded filtration system which means that the water comes out of this system is as good as new. The purification process is quite complicated especially in space but with the recent upgrade, it may now be very possible.

The international space system or ISS's upgraded filtration system works efficiently

The good thing about the international space system or ISS's upgraded filtration system is that it is able to work in space! The crucial part of this transition process is boiling the urine which is the first step of the filtration process. According to NASA's very own Jennifer Pruitt, the importance of getting through the steam environment is critical since this is when it is most vulnerable. "One of the most important things we've learned in the last 12 years of the hardware's orbital operation is that the hardware is vulnerable in its steam environment."

The installation of this upgraded filtration system is no easy job as well

When installing a new piece of hardware, astronauts have to carefully put this together on the station and make sure it is compatible with the other systems aboard the international space station or ISS. Even the development process by NASA is done with such precision to make sure everything runs smoothly when it is aboard the ISS. Factors like the amount of electricity the hardware will use, the efficiency of the hardware, the environmental effects of the hardware, and even the durability of the hardware are all considered before launching a new hardware to space.

Becoming an astronaut is no easy job

To become an astronaut, most people have to be able to acquire a certain type of knowledge that is necessary on board the space ship to make sure that everyone on board is properly utilized. Aside from smarts, an astronaut must be able to be flexible as most tasks aboard the ISS or international space station range from a wide selection of different tasks. The last and most critical requirement would be the astronaut's ability to carry on despite not being able to see other human beings aside from the fellow astronauts.
