Ever found yourself short on money? Well, volunteers who participate in finding the cure for the coronavirus or Covid-19 at the Queen Mary BioEnterprises Innovation Centre, London, by being the test subjects for the vaccine could be paid $4,500! Is this enough to cover the risk of something going incredibly sour? Most likely not, but if this would help us come closer to the vaccine, maybe it would be worth the risk after all. There are only 24 people to be recruited for this specific study but it is not too sure as to whether they are lucky or unlucky.
What will happen to these volunteers?
The volunteers will then be injected with two weaker strains of this deadly virus which has already made quite a huge amount of damage and has killed 3,800 people worldwide by giving them the closest respiratory symptoms to the real thing. The goal is to simulate the whole process in a controlled environment while testing out many possible vaccines to see if they work on the patients and to see which parts of the development need to be given more attention. The coronavirus or Covid-19's vaccines need to be tested on human hosts to solidify the theory as to the effect of the virus.
Other private rewards are available for those who can contribute
There are about 35 other vaccines around being developed and even the UK government has decided to take part in this by providing an extra 60 million dollars to possibly award the private group who comes up with the vaccine. The vaccine might be created in private sectors which is why the UK government has decided to offer incentives to these scientists in hopes to motivate them to work towards a cure! Sometimes the most unexpected thing happens and a cure might just be found in odd places around the world, thankfully the UK government is willing to give incentives to help spread the vaccine once it is found.
Will the vaccine make it in time?
This is the biggest question running through the minds of those in charge of creating the vaccine! Will the creation of the vaccine be available before it is too late? The essence of time is crucial as more and more cases pop up each year with the infection spreading even more with every single move scientists try to take against it. In fact, the virus has already mutated and has become stronger than what scientists were used to. The new strain travels faster and has become more fatal than the original virus.
Even the National Institutes of Health located in the US, and Baylor University in Waco, Texas, has declared that they are taking part in building the vaccine with the data they have collected from the previous SARS outbreak but with regards to the progress of this vaccine, it may take a year to develop according to Pharmaceutical Technology.
