Samsung has just recently released a new phone model called the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra--it is quite a gorgeous device from the design, the build, the specs, and the camera performance. But the only downside is that it costs $1,400!!! Besides, the OS update may kill the beauty of this phone in a matter of time anyway.
Why the pricing?
It seems like the pricing is due to the increasing manufacturing costs. The prices of other products like the Samsung Galaxy s 20 Ultra have gone way up, but this does not seem like quite a reasonable move because most people buy Samsung because of its affordability and not just because of the phone itself! If Samsung is trying to compete with the high-price phones like the ones from Apple, Samsung should at least offer something that lasts longer and has also massively improved specs.
The $1000 price mark has not yet been a comfortable benchmark
So far, the Apple iPhone X was the only successful phone to make it past the $1,000 price tag, and while Android was deemed cheaper and affordable, the Samsung Galaxy S8 was still able to sell at about $720. What experts have been pushing is that Apple has the right to charge this price while Samsung does not.
The difference between the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone X is that the iPhone X uses the latest version of the iOS while the Galaxy S8 is already running on an 18 month Android 2018's Pie which has no plans on updating to the Android 10 despite being capable of doing so! It seems like Samsung is trying to phase out this product while surprisingly, Apple is still pushing their iPhone X.
Why the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is not worth investment to some?
When you buy this product on the market for $1,399, you might expect proper aftercare and that you will be able to use this phone for quite a while, but the sad truth of the fact is that the guaranteed OS upgrades during the whole lifecycle of the phone are only two years! You will only be given two years to enjoy the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra before your Operating System becomes obsolete.
Samsung Galaxy S8 longevity is still not worth it
Always put into mind if you are thinking of buying the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra that you are paying twice the price of the Samsung Galaxy S8! The logic is simple, why buy the new Ultra for $1,400 with an OS that will only be supported for two years when you can buy two $700 phones over four years?
Samsung has been trying to compete with Apple when it comes to luxury phones heavily, but with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy s 20 Ultra, maybe they are pricing a bit too high for an OS that is only going to be supported for two years.
