If you are worried about going outside because of Coronavirus or COVID-19, Niantic has found a solution for its loyal players! When the Thundurus Raid Battle started on Monday, another option of winning the said Pokemon also opened to players on the same day.
Pokemon GO vs. Coronavirus
If you want to catch Thundurus without going outside, players can have the opportunity to find him on a limited time only using the newest GO Battle League PvP mode.
At first, fans of Pokemon GO thought that Thundurus being featured on GO Battle League was just a bug that must be fixed. Some players even caught Thundurus on the platform up to four times, as seen on this Twitter post. However, Niantic explained that this is not a bug, and you can totally catch Thundurus on GO Battle League PvP mode.
Though Niantic did not mention anything about getting their players safe from Coronavirus, it is obviously one of their reasons why this option is now opened for all players. Kudos Niantic!
Reasons why this Raid Battle is just a waste of your time
Niantic just pulled a really great stunt there with the Coronavirus prevention. However, is it really worth your time to catch Thundurus at all?
Aside from the fact that a lot of players think that Pokemon Thundurus does not look like a Pokemon or Legendary at all, some memes were also posted saying that Thundurus just looks like a weird blue genie Pokemon. Pokesnap even edited their poster with the picture of the genie in the latest Aladdin film-- played by actor Will Smith.
Oh well, if you think that catching this Pokemon is more important than catching a possible Coronavirus, that's your call!
