Samsung has recently released the Galaxy S20 series, but the organization has almost forgotten updating its previous flagships. Galaxy Note 10 owners would be happy to know the Korean giant is seeding a new update for Galaxy Note series in several European countries starting from Germany.
Improved face unlock recognition, gesture navigations among the update
The latest update has improved face unlock recognition and also developed gesture navigation along with other changes. It also enhances overall machine stability with numerous bug fixes on the board.
There is very limited information on the update beyond those two important enhancements, but firmware version N975FXXU2BTB5, N975FOXM2BTB3, and N975FXXU2BTB3 are now working out for the Samsung Galaxy Note series in Germany. The update is likely to propagate worldwide in the coming days.
Spotted by Reddit users in Germany, the upgrade rolled out after the February 2020 safety patch update for Galaxy Note 10. Samsung is actively rolling out security patches, and other regular updates for most of the flagship and mid-range devices. Apart from Galaxy Note 10, other Samsung Galaxy S series and A models are often getting the updates.
Despite enhancing full-display screen navigation gestures, the update does not allow one to apply third-party launchers with the Android 10 gestures. If you want to use other navigation gestures and a third-party launcher, you have no other choice but to continue counting on Samsung's very own gestures. At the moment, it is unclear how the update correctly improves face recognition. However, speed and accuracy enhancements are always welcome for it.
Note 10, Note 10+ are eligible for the software update
Almost every device in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 family - including the Star Wars version and the Sprint version - are available for the update, which weighs in at 260 MB. Any stragglers need to get it by the end of January 2020. That update will include One UI 2.0, based on Android 10.
Apart from streamlining the facial recognition system and the gestures for navigation, the update also introduces some malicious bug fixes and device stability improvements.
However, the update does not include the March safety patch, which is probably to arrive in the next few weeks. Samsung has been quite fast with delivering security patches in a timely style on its most current flagships, and Note 10 is no exception. The phone got the February protection update in advance of the Pixel phones, which is no small feat.
How to know if you can update your Note 10
It's worthy of heading to your device Settings > System updates and checking if you can download the patch to your Note 10. You can also update your phone by downloading the brand new firmware, which you may download from an official firmware archive using a Windows PC.
