The 6-second video phenomenon Vine is one of the fastest growing video service apps in the market. While millions of users took to using Vine's innovative video services, users were also limited to using the app to access any of Vine's features. However, Vine has recently announced that their services will now be available on the web.
The Twitter-owned company re-launched its website to allow its users access to all of the app's features online. This means that users can now log in, watch videos from their home feeds, share the videos they like as well as interact with these videos with likes and comments. Before the site was redesigned, the only thing that users could do on the Vine site was to click on download links to download the app.
The new site is clean, slick and easy to easy. Once users login they can start viewing their home feed by clicking on the Home icon at the top left corner of the site. Users can also check out their own videos by clicking the button on the top right corner of the site. Another interesting addition to the site is the TV mode, which can be accessed by clicking on the television icon at the top right side of the page. This is perfect for people who want to watch Vine videos on a smart TV or a larger computer monitor. The TV mode allows users to view videos in full screen mode.
While the site is a step towards the right direction, there are a number of things that could still be improved. For one, users do not have access to a proper search function with keywords. Moreover, users who are fond of using hashtags will be disappointed to know that hashtags do not work on the new site. These issues will probably be addressed by the company in future updates to its site.
"This release is just a first step toward bringing you a richer, more enjoyable web experience. We look forward to introducing more improvements in 2014," says Vine in a blog post.
