Pokemon Day 2020 is now happening! An early celebration of this event is held on Pokemon GO on which players can now have access to challenging Pokemon GO Raids to win an extremely rare Pokemon, an Armored Mewtwo that can make a powerful special attack.

As usual, beating a 5-star raid boss would never be easy. That's why here are some of the best tips and guides for you to win this special Pokemon and find out his weakness.

Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution on Netflix featuring clone pokemon

It is uncommon to see Mewtwo on its armored costume. This is the reason why this Pokemon Day starting Tuesday, Feb. 25, up to Mar. 2 at 1 pm PST is an awesome week to try out your luck and beat the armored Pokemon and put him to your Pokedex.

Catching Armored Mewtwo on Pokemon GO is also part of the promotion for the airing of the next Pokemon film to watch out on Netflix starting on Thursday, Feb. 27-- Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.

Going back to catch this rare Pokemon, there are various steps to take before you get to win an Armored Mewtwo. Obviously, you will need to join the nearby Pokemon GO raids battle first. If you don't know how, here are the steps.

Pokemon GO app will notify you once a nearby raid is about to begin. If you see a giant blue egg and a countdown timer appear over a Gym, this means that what you will encounter is the raid boss for this week, which is the Armored Mewtwo.

Travel to the Gym and exchange a Raid pass to participate in the said event. After joining, you and your teammates will only have limited time to beat Armored Mewtwo, so make sure every second count.

Secrets on beating Armored Mewtwo

Although Mewtwo is featured with a different appearance for this week's event, this Pokemon is still a pure Psychic-type pocket monster. This means that you'll be able to beat the Armored Mewtwo using three particular Pokemon types on the battle. These are Ghost, Bug, and Dark-types pocket monsters. Make sure to fill your tank and search with these types of Pokemon on your Pokedex in order to have bigger chances to beat that Pokemon.

Pokemon GO Hub also reported that having six to eight players on your battle will make higher chances to win the battle against the Armored Mewtwo. Here is the list of Pokemon counters that you can use to fight against Mewtwo:

  • Snarl
  • Shadow Claw
  • Bite
  • Hex
  • Lick/ Shadow Claw

Armored Mewtwo has powerful Psystrike

The last time Pokemon GO featured Mewtwo on raids is in July 2019. Though it is not as unique as other Pokemon GO raid bosses, this Armored Mewtwo has a powerful Psychic-type Charged attack Psystrike that can beat your opponents once chosen.

With this powerful Pokemon, there are a lot of things that might happen soon. Make sure every second count!
