What do the fans know

The next game from the franchise is rumored to be Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, nothing substantial as of yet, but the leaks and rumors out there mention that it'll be about Vikings, will support four-player co-op modes and a massive open world with Europe and Scandinavia as a focus.

Various leaks have been posted online, and Ubisoft has been quiet about the whole thing, including the title or reacted on the aforementioned leaks. The one thing that kept coming back to the idea of all the leaks is the idea of Ragnarok as a premise.

What the fans talking about online

Regardless of the rumors to be true or not, the fans have been tirelessly working out ideas on what they want to see in the next installment. The discussion is heating up in the platform Reddit and here are some of the suggestions by users:

Posted about 15 days ago by a fan of the series, he wrote: "I hope assassins creed 2020 will be a narrative-driven game great story like the Ezio trilogy and black flag great characters like Ezio, Bayek and Edward Kenway no choices and no choose your gender just a single character."

Also here's a post from Bluefold over on Reddit at the same article:

"With Ubisoft saying they want to release 5 AAA games in 2020/2021 I wouldn't be mad if AC became a split franchise. 'RPG Open World' and 'Narrative focused Assassin lead the smaller world'. I enjoyed Odyssey and Origins well enough, but neither felt like a game where I was playing an assassin. Having two releases that are clearly separate, but of the same world would be pretty cool.

Truly, I want unique kills back. Don't care what the rest of the game is like, just let me feel like an assassin again if I'm willing to put in the effort. I hate the level system because of this. If I take the time to infiltrate a base and sneak to a commander while they are sleeping, without being spotted, then it should be instant death.

Heck, give me a historical Hitman reboot ripoff if not willing to make a full game like that. A hyperfocused assassination story with the density of a Hitman level would actually be all kinds of cool."

What fans are torn over

As the fan base is torn on accepting the new way Assassin's Creed franchise is going with the likes and similarities of games like combat system akin to The Witcher 3. The other side of the spectrum misses the old way it was made with unique assassinations per weapon and the difficulty it was based on with the original formula.

One thing is for sure, Assassin's Creed is a franchise that attracts old and new players alike with a chance to play in key historical events in time and meet the iconic people as well. No matter what direction Ubisoft goes with this franchise, we will keep you posted on all related news.
