Watch: Expert Says Coronavirus COVID-19 Quarantine Procedures in Diamond Princess are 'Completely Chaotic'

A certain individual with a huge role in treating the coronavirus was claiming that the treatment of all the passengers aboard the quarantined ship called the Diamond Princess was poor and that the infected and the non-infected were being mistreated. Mr. Kentaro Iwata, who was an infectious disease expert from Kobe University tasked to handle the situation aboard the Diamond Princess, reported the mistreatment he witnessed to both the infected and non-infected passengers.

Mr. Kentaro uploaded a YouTube video explaining his complaint

The passengers aboard the Diamond Princess were met with inadequate terms of infection control, and there was no distinction between the separated lines of the green zone, which was said to hold those who were free of infection and the red line, which was said to hold those infected. There was no discernment between the two zones, and Mr. Kentaro felt sympathy for those aboard the ship.

'I never had fear of getting infection myself.[But on the Diamond Princess] I was so scared," he said.

The ship has been sitting on the dock of Yokohama since Feb 3

The conditions of the passengers aboard the Diamond Princess were in poor shape because of how 3,700 people on this ship were not allowed passage due to a certain individual who disembarked in Hong Kong who was positive of the Covid-19 virus last Jan 25. Although this ship has an esteemed reputation to keep, the passengers of this ship were not able to fully enjoy their cruise because of the event.

Princess Cruises, which is one of the top Carnival Corporations, has a reputation for keeping being one of the largest cruise companies around the world. This reputation, of course, was met by unforeseeable events like the spread of infection on board the ship.

Experts are beginning to question Japan's strategy when it comes to battling the coronavirus

Although the lives of the citizens are the number one priority of any country, what the passengers experienced onboard the Diamond Princess was not pleasant. The number of infected aboard the vessel slowly increased as Japan did not provide immediate care to the infected passengers of this cruise ship.

About 542 people aboard this cruise ship have been reported infected with the deadly coronavirus, thus, resulting in about 15% of the total population. Compared to what other ships have experienced with the same situation of holding infected passengers, the Diamond Princess passengers had it worse.

The infection was able to spread because of the poor strategies employed

There were reportedly infected people sharing rooms with people who tested negative, which jeopardizes the situation of everyone aboard the ship. Mr. Kentaro was asked to leave the ship despite his expertise on the matter, and although Mr. Gaku Hashimoto, the vice minister of health, has said that everything was a misconception, there are still clear lapses in judgment made to the approach of this virus. The Japanese Coronavirus Expert claims that the passengers of the Diamond Princess were poorly mistreated and that the virus should be handled with more delicacy.
