Roberto De Jesus Escobar Gaviria, the brother of the late drug czar Pablo Escobar of Colombia, is now setting his sights on taking over the smartphone markets of Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung by offering a clone of the Samsung Galaxy Fold at a very low price: a tiny $400 only.
Roberto Escobar had earlier introduced the Pablo Escobar Fold 1 smartphone to the public, possibly trying to provide competition to the Apple company. This new release is for the Pablo Escobar Fold 2 folding phone, which is reportedly made in Hong Kong (though its design is said to have come from US counterparts).
Clone parts have exact replica of Samsung Galaxy Fold
It seems that the Galaxy Fold clone launched into the market by Roberto Escobar has almost all of the exact same specifications as the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Here are the specific specs:
- Main display measuring 7.3 inches
- 4,380 mAh battery
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor
- Android 10 OS
However, differences do exist, such as the following:
- Samsung Galaxy Fold has six cameras whereas the Escobar phone only has five
- Samsung Galaxy Fold costs $2000 while the Escobar phone is priced at just $400
Roberto Escobar, whose company is named Escobar, Inc., authorized clone production of only 200,000 units for now. He claims that his phone version has been tested thoroughly, with parts sourced from Chinese factories in Shenzen. The clone is fitted with 8GB RAM and a storage of 128 GB. A larger version of the Pablo Escobar Fold 2 has more RAM at 12GB and storage of 512 GB - it is priced at $549. The Pablo Escobar Fold 2 will be formally launched to the public in March 2020. It is believed that Escobar, Inc. will accept pre-orders, though.

Escobar, Inc. aims to snare low-priced smartphone market with clones
It seems that Roberto Escobar is serious about this entry into the low-priced smartphone market. Aside from Samsung, the Pablo Escobar Fold 1 smartphone he had earlier released was meant to challenge more established smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei and Motorola, by offering low prices to the public. This is not ridiculous because the prices of these large smartphone makers are as follows:
- Samsung Galaxy Fold - $1,980
- Huawei Mate X - $2,400
- Motorola Razr - $1,500
The Pablo Escobar Fold 1 was priced at just $350, plus it was said to be compatible with any network, unlocked. It had the following features too:
- 16-megapixel camera
- 20-megapixel camera
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Series chipset
- 7.8-inch AMOLED FHD Plus screen
- Android 9.0 (Pie)
With consumers struggling in today's economy, it isn't surprising then that the Fold 1 was eventually followed by the current Pablo Escobar Fold 2. It remains to be seen though whether the public will favor either the lower-priced Escobar Galaxy Fold clone or opt to stay with the originals of the more established smartphone manufacturers. The success of the Escobar Galaxy Fold clone and possible popularity may be considered a major victory for Escobar, Inc.
