There is an avalanche of complaints from Microsoft Windows 10 users after trying to update with a Microsoft Windows 10 download to fix a File Explorer problem. Most of the claims revolve around the loss of sound quality after installing the update. This occurred even though users are still able to upgrade their Windows 10 from the previous Windows 7 at no extra charge.

Microsoft Permits Staggered Update Schedule But Users Complain Due to Inconvenience

Microsoft Windows Corporate Vice President Mike Fortin had earlier stated that Microsoft would give more leeway to Windows users over the timing of the update process. However, the updates process for the Microsoft Windows 10 download still turned out to be a headache for Windows users as they would only be allowed to delay a process update for up to 35 days for the feature updates and monthly updates.

This step, dubbed a "pause", could be staggered into 7-day periods, repeated five times total only. After that, consumers would have to initiate an update. Then the staggered "pause update" process can be started again. This means Windows users would have to keep the update schedule in mind, thus making it difficult to reconcile with their work schedules.

Windows 10 Turns Out to be buggy

This latest problem comes on the heels of two other previous problems with Windows updates. One problem is that the KB4524147 cumulative update triggered difficulties with the Start Menu, printing, and boot capabilities (which are believed to be a reiteration of earlier problems with the KB4522016 updates). Another problem was the KB4517211 optional cumulative update for Windows 10, which seemed to obliterate any use of the search field - even the cursor disappeared when used on the search field.

Such problems with the updates are not new. As early as May 2019, there were complaints from Windows users about the Windows 10 upgrade for version 1903. Specifically, the update could not be installed on certain devices - believed to be a deliberate decision on the part of Microsoft. Some apps and features were being blocked as well after the updates had been installed. It is also believed that the Settings app crashed due to the updates.

Microsoft faces legal hurdles due to buggy Windows 10

Users complained that some features had gone missing and that the "design consistency" was lacking in the update process of Microsoft Windows 10 download. What was most notable about the issue though, was the striking lack of information about these many problems as well as the possible solutions that could help the public handle the upgrade bugs. This is not the least of headaches related to the updates for Microsoft because the company is now deemed liable for damages due to a Windows 10 upgrade initiated on a Finnish man's computer that turned out to be unauthorized. There was even a class-action lawsuit filed for alleged unauthorized updates, in relation to the timing of that complaint.
