Plague Inc., a game application that commands players to spread the deadly virus across the globe, has now increased its number of downloads in China being the top one most downloaded app in the country.
This app skyrocketed after the issue of Coronavirus spread. Some people even suggested that players are now downloading the app to be prepared for what comes next on Coronavirus.
What is plague app?
On Wednesday, Jan. 22, Plague Inc. became the best-selling iOS app in China, revealed by a tech reporter Zheping Huang. Plague Inc. was released in 2012 and was developed by Ndemic Creations and Miniclip.
This game can only be played with single-player mode and can be downloaded through online game stores. Plague Inc. is also compatible with Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Windows Phone.
According to the tweet, the spread of Coronavirus became 'black humor' in gamers on China, making them download the app.
Plague has been downloaded around the world for more than 120 million times since its launch in 2012. Aside from that, the game also received tons of nominations for game of the year awards.
How to play Plague app?
The rules of the game are simple. The player will have to find ways for a virus to be spread out all over the world. The objective of Plague Inc. is to turn a disease into a global pandemic and stop governments around the globe from solving the death tolls resulted from the plague. Leading to the 'end of human history.'
Once a player successfully gained control of the whole world through the virus, the player wins the game.

Ndemic Creations already released a statement regarding the widespread interest of people with their game. According to the creator, a lot of people and the media have already asked questions and thrown controversies regarding the app.
They said that they designed the game to be 'realistic and informative while not sensationalizing serious real-world issues.' Therefore, all of the information brought by the game was real and based on facts; however, Ndemic reiterated that Plague Inc. is only a game and 'not a scientific model.'
"Please remember that Plague Inc. is a game, not a scientific model and that the current coronavirus outbreak is a very real situation which is impacting a huge number of people. We would always recommend that players get their information directly from local and global health authorities," said Ndemic Creations on their website.
Coronavirus update
As of now, Chinese authorities announced that Coronavirus death tolls already reached at least 26 people in China. Over 800 people were suspected to be infected with the viral disease.
Coronavirus is a respiratory disease that can infect anyone that will have interaction with the infected. World Health Organization had already warned people around the world to be careful with the countries that are positively infected with Coronavirus.
According to BBC, lockdown measures were already implemented in China's Hubei province wherein the disease was first diagnosed.
Still, WHO directed governments around the world to be vigilant with what's coming and leaving their countries.
