Tim Cook has been behind water-efficient showers by Nebia since 2015 and has now gotten his new idea from the local gym. When it comes to making a decision based on first-hand experience, the Apple chief coincidentally stepped under one of their prototypes in a local gym located in Palo Alto, California, and this led him to his decision of backing up this product!
Conserving water on a grander scale
Showers tend to waste quite a huge volume of unnecessary water, and this can be a problem for many, not just because of the water bills but also because of the environmental aspect of water usage. Cost-efficient showers should be the standard of society as we all move forward into a future that can maximize results while minimizing the usage of certain resources like water.

Philip Winter and how he tested the product
Philip Winter, a man who made quite the contribution to the creation of Nebia, persuaded fitness centers within Silicon Valley to run some tests with the eco-shower to see the feedback of consumers, and that is when he met Tim Cook.
Apple's investment on Tim Cook
"Cook was drawn to the environmental aspect," a comment given by Winter, who asked the Apple boss himself if he would be willing to make a personal investment. The startup was able to generate about eight million dollars, which was enough money to start the manufacturing and market preparations needed for this product to launch. Such an investment was made because of the belief in these showers to be not only cost-effective but also environmentally beneficial. The information about the startup amount was mentioned by Crunchbase.
The organic way Nebia handles things
With personal money being shelled out by Tim Cook, strict standards were required to be met as they focused on consumer experience and not just price wars. Releasing a new innovative shower to the market had to be a challenging task because of the silent but still booming industry, which takes the expertise of Tim Cook to understand.
The design was also very important to the company as they had to make sure that their showers were attractive and fit right in the consumer's bathroom as an elevation and not just a necessity. Tim Cook believes in both functionality and design and does not plan to compromise in both aspects.
