Fortnite esports is not ending any time soon as Epic continues to support its amateur system. Epic just recently released three different Solo Cups for January. Solo Hype Nite, Solo Platform Cup, and Solo Cash Cup are returning for players to compete in this month.
Solo Hype Nite is the most casual and accessible competitive format. Anyone can join the cup regardless of their skill level. In this tournament, Epic is only giving out Hype to participants. As long as you make the 50th percentile of all players who played during Hype Nite, you'll be rewarded with some Hype. Going up to the 99th percentile can get you a sizeable amount of hype, which can help you access higher divisions that give out prizes.
Solo Platform Cup
Solo Platform Cup restricts users based on their platform and on their region. And of course, as the name suggests, it's all solo. It's all down to individual skill in this tournament. As of now, there are several regions: NA East, NA West, Europe, Brazil, Oceania, Asia, and the Middle East. Each region is divided into PC, Xbox/PS4, and Switch/Mobile/Touch, respectively. The Platform Cup gives out cash prizes, depending on where you're playing and what platform you're using. Take a look below of how much each of the top players per region per platform will take home:
NA East - PC: $2500
NA East - Xbox/PS4: $2500
NA East - Switch/Mobile/Touch: $1500

Take note that you'll have to be in the Contender League of your respective platform to participate in these Platform Cups. If you lank the rank to get in, consider joining (and winning) the Hype Nites to boost your rank up quickly.
Solo Cash Cup
Solo Cash Cup (also known as its longer name Solo Contender Cash Cup) gives out more money but is platform-independent. That means Xbox and PS4 users will be fighting it out against the best PC and Switch/Mobile/Touch users. Like Platform Contender Cup, you'll have to be in the Contender League to get in the Solo Cash Cup. The Solo Cash Cup will give out the following prizes:
NA East: $6000
NA West: $2550
Europe: $7000
Brazil: $2550
Oceania: $2000
Asia: $2000
Middle East: $2000
Scoring
For both cups that give out cash prizes, the following point system is followed:
Victory Royale: +3 points
Reach Top 5: +2 Points
Reach Top 15: +2 Points
Reach Top 25: +3 Points
Each Elimination: +1 Point
With this scoring system, it is possible to actually be the overall winner even if you're not the last survivor. For example, being the last person alive with just one elimination will just net you 11 points, whereas an aggressive player that eliminated 15 other players but doesn't become the last person standing will outrank the sole survivor.
The Cups are held throughout January. Solo Hype Nite Happens every Friday and Saturday (starting from Jan. 10), while Platform Cup happens every Wednesday (Starting Jan. 15), while Cash Cup happens every Thursday (Starting Jan. 16). For complete rules, take a look here.
