A lot of exciting and surprising events are set to happen this year on Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

Not only regarding the two-game expansions of Pokemon Sword and Shield, to be later explained in this article, but a new pocket monster is now waiting for you to catch him on the game, the newest Galarian-form Pokemon Slowpoke.

Here are some details on how to catch this new creature and what to expect for the coming months on Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Unlocked: Galarian Slowpoke Now on the Wild!

Sit up straight Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield players! Here comes another creature ready for you to battle or catch once you install the newest update on the game.

Introducing Slowpoke, a dual-type Water/Psychic Pokemon, from the new Galar region. Once you caught him on the game, you will see that the Galarian Slowpoke is now on level 12, and already trained for attacks like Growl (40/40), Acid (30/30), Yawn (10/10) and Confusion (25/25).

But before that, how can you catch your first Slowpoke?

Things To Do to Catch Slowpoke on Pokemon Sword and Shield

On Thursday, developer Game Freak announced the latest software update of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

In order for you to have access to meeting Slowpoke, you first have to download the software update-- which will also lead you to the game's other new expansions soon. Here are the complete steps on how to catch Slowpoke:

  • Click the '+' on your Switch controller and update your Sword and Shield copy-- if you haven't already updated it.
  • Go to Wedgehurst and head to the train station below the Pokemon Center
  • By then, you will either see Pokemon trainers like Klara (for Pokemon Sword) or Avery (for Pokemon Shield) that will greet you on your quest
  • After Klara or Avery explains the $30 season pass on the game, Slowpoke will now suddenly stand in the middle of the room
  • Save your game and then choose to battle or catch it. Though it is more advisable just to catch it using one Quick Ball.
  • Now, you've successfully caught Slowpoke!

How to Evolve Your Slowpoke

Now, that you've finally caught your first Slowpoke on Pokemon Sword and Shield, you might think about trying to evolve it for stronger Pokemon like Slowbro or Slowking.

Sadly, you cannot yet do this Pokemon evolution for now.

New Expansions Soon on Pokemon Sword and Shield-- The Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra

To evolve Slowpoke for a better set of pocket monsters, you will need required items that can only be available from the soon-to-be new Pokemon Sword and Shield expansions, the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra.

Unfortunately, Game Freak announced this week that the new game expansions are still set to be released in June and fall 2020, respectively. However, if you've already caught Slowpoke today, that's already one check on your to-do list!

Other Pokemon To Watch Out on the New Expansions

Aside from Slowpoke, a lot of more exciting pocket monsters are scheduled to be available on Pokemon Sword and Shield's new expansions. Here are some of them, according to Polygon:
