Exploring the Witcher world a second time after you've finished the game once might sound like an overwhelming task. But it's well worth it to return to the game for whatever reason, may it be to complete all trophies and achievements, or because you missed playing the game after watching The Witcher on Netflix. Whatever the case is, you are going to have a better time playing through the NEW GAME +. Here are five reasons why you'll enjoy playing The Witcher 3 NEW GAME +.
1. Keep All Your Gear and Find Even Stronger Ones
When starting an NG+ playthrough, you get to keep all equipment you have in your stash, including Grandmaster sets from the Blood and Wine expansion.
Having your late-game gear with you is a great way to start the game. Not only does it make it easier for you to beat White Orchard much more quickly, but it will also make Geralt look like a badass right from the get-go.
However, NG+ scales with the level Geralt has by the end of your first playthrough. This makes all enemies much tougher, and sooner than later, Geralt's equipment will become too underpowered for these powered-up beasts. Thankfully, the armor you find in NG+ also scales. This makes some new equipment you find in your NG+ playthrough even better than your Grandmaster sets.
2. Explore More of the Story
The fact that the video games don't really stick with the story of the books makes it much easier for the developers to write their own stories in The Witcher 3. That being said, the choices you make in The Witcher 3 could lead to very different stories, and it's always worth the new playthrough to go back and make different choices to see how they will play out.
May it be the main storyline or some subquests, a NEW GAME + playthrough will let you explore more about the story and see more perspectives than you did in the first playthrough. You'll finally be able to judge if you've indeed made the right choice.
3. Reach the Far-Flung Places In The Map
During your first playthrough, you'd most likely stick to the main path. Some leveling issues could make it hard for you to explore wherever you want, especially if hardened monsters block your way. In NEW GAME +, with your endgame equipment in tow, you are much better equipped to fight monsters on higher difficulty levels. Being able to beat these monsters will help you reach locations you weren't able to reach before.
The Witcher 3's map is so large. A single NEW GAME + may even be not enough to explore the map completely. Thankfully, there's nothing stopping you from repeating this process over and over.
4. Try Out New Playstyles
The Witcher 3's deep customization options allow you to follow a specific combat style for Geralt. With NEW GAME +, you could make Geralt explore new paths on his skill tree. You will get more skill points than you could use in your second playthrough, giving you more leeway to experiment and try out new ways to play the game.
5. Understand All the References and See All the Foreshadowing
Aside from being a great game, The Witcher 3 also has a very compelling, well-written story. However, many of the finer details of the story and dialogue text might fly over your head the first time around.
With all the knowledge you accrued from your first playthrough, you'd be able to appreciate the story more the second time around. You'd also be able to spot all the foreshadowing in the game also, which the game actually has a lot of. Being able to appreciate more of The Witcher 3's story might even come in handy with future seasons of The Witcher on Netflix, who knows?
