Facebook-owned WhatsApp, a messaging app, has a new feature called 'Disappearing Messages' which has been discovered in Android's latest beta 2.19.275 version. An online article posted on dailypioneer.com, it was indicated that with the 'delete messages' feature, good admins could already select a particular duration for messages on their respective groups. Then, once a message gets across the duration, it will automatically be deleted.
Originally, the same article indicated, this new feature was expected to be available for both" group and individual chats. However, to date, the report asserts that the 'Disappearing Messages' feature will be limited only for chats. In addition, the said feature for group chats will make it simpler for the admins to control both old chats and messages. More so, the long-awaited dark mode of WhatsApp is finally set for release, and supposedly, several users have already tried it.
'Disappearing Messages' Beta Version
Website WaBetaInfo, the company following the developments with the app's beta version, had revealed, too, that the dark theme update is set for WhatApp's Android version. In addition, this messaging app of Facebook is also testing a new update for the beta for iOS users that can bring features such as splash screen, app badge enhancements, and muted status update, to name a few. The new splash screen of WhatsApp will essentially let the users see the app's logo every time they open WhatsApp on their Apple devices. This is available, too, on the Android beta app.
As far as the new feature is concerned, if you are not certain what this new WhatsApp development is, it means the 'Disappearing Messages' feature allows users to set a specific time limit after which a message they have chosen would expire not leaving any trace of its existence. The feature, as to how it is described in reviews, is the same as the Secret Chat feature of Telegram, another popularly used social messaging app. The Secret Chat feature functions from which all sent messages are set with a "self-destruct timer." Once the receiver has read the message, the timer begins, and the message automatically gets deleted from the sender's sent, and the receiver's inbox folders, when the set time limit expires.
The New WhatsApp Feature to Function Soon
WABetaInfo recently announced that WhatApp bet's latest version 2.19.438 for Android confirms that the famous chat app will undoubtedly get a "Disappearing Messages" feature. Nevertheless, in this new tech development, the feature has been reported being renamed to "delete messages" and provides the user with a choice of how they would like new messages they receive to last before they get deleted.
While there is no official announcement yet as to the exact date of release of this new WhatsApp feature's stable version, what's guaranteed is that it is happening soon. Earlier on, WhatsApp already gained several features, which include "Google Assistant support and fingerprint authentication." The messaging app does not stop there, as it appears like a Snapchat-inspired feature is about to happen next.
Earlier mentioned, and like Snapchat, users can set a time limit for these messages with options being either five seconds or one hour. Meanwhile, Snapchat alerts its users too, when a receiver has taken a Snap's screenshot. However, it is not known if WhatsApp is working on the same functionality.
