Do you know that you have an advantage if you're going to battle out with Pikachu's Ash Ketchum? The answer is that unlike Ash, you can access the internet and find out the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen pocket monsters. And that is much helpful, especially for Pokemon GO players out there that will join the much-awaited Pokemon battle of 2020, the Pokemon GO League Battle.
And if you're that one or just planning to be that one, here is the techniques and strategies you can do and list down to make sure you take home the gold and win against your own version of Team Rocket.
How To Win On PvP Mode on Pokemon Go?
Knowing the Meta
Before you dive in unprepared on various player vs. player battles on Pokemon Go, you have to remember that preparations and knowledge are important things you need to accomplish on winning each of your battles. For example, if you are still new with the names, powers, and weaknesses of your pocket monsters enlisted in your Pokedex, you might as well advance yourself and think that you will lose the game-- believe me.
One simple but kind of difficult thing that most Pokemon masters do when battling with other players is this: Know your line up of Pokemon and your opponent's Pokemon. Just like in any video games or actual sports, having the advantage to know your opponents' set of skills and weaknesses is a huge part of winning against them.
And as part of the protocol in Pokemon Go League Battle, you are only allowed to include eligible Pokemon to your team-- if you do not know them, how can you win?
Predict Your Opponent
Just like 'knowing the meta' tip, all Pokemon Go players are aware that predicting your opponent's next moves gives you the edge to a battle. Reading and comparing both of your set of pocket monsters makes you more aware of what comes next and how can you take that down with your pocket monsters' strengths. Once you've handpicked your strong set of Pokemon, you are good to go!
Energy Farming
Once you're already in the Pokemon battle, another thing that Pocket masters do is to aim for 'energy farming.' If you're not familiar with the term, Energy Farming "refers to using only fast moves and filling up your charge move meter/gauge several times over if possible."
This is a move that you can only do in PvP mode as gym and raids battle do not allow this type of move.
Energy farming can only be applied once these two events happened on your game:
- When you win the lead against your opponent, and they do not switch out instantly
- When you win the lead match-up, but your opponent immediately switches into a direct counter.
Shield Baiting
Let me stop you there first and say that not every Pokemon can do this trick. However, if you've done this. There's a huge chance of winning.
This strategy starts when you keep hitting fast moves that accumulate to high energy-- allowing you to have hard-hitting charge move. Once your opponent thinks that you will apply the charge move, you would go for lesser energy move, and by then, your opponent will apply shield on which you can attack the heavy charge mode for the 2nd time. With this, they are likely to charge another shield on which will burn both of your opponent's shields.

No More Pokemon Go Wayfarer Tool For Now
As reported on Dec. 27, Pokemon Go recently allowed its players to suggest the names of Pokestops and gyms around their area. However, Niantic explained on the same day that the feature will no longer operate anymore due to players' "overwhelming response."
