After the December Community Days ended with a bang, the Pokémon GO Team is eager to cap off 2019 with bigger, more exciting surprises. As a gift to their fans and players, they are bringing back the Pokémon GO Holidays event.
In a blog post, the team behind the hit augmented reality game shared that Trainers have so much to look forward to this festive season. Among the special features of the event are holiday costumes, ice-type Pokémon, and event-exclusive Field Research.
What to Expect in the Pokémon GO Holidays 2019 Event
In the world of video games, nothing speaks Christmas better than winter-themed avatar items, and a blizzard full of bonuses-these are what you can expect from Pokémon GO's Holidays 2019 event exactly.
Starting Dec. 24 (Tuesday) at 12:00 a.m. to Jan. 1, 2020 (Wednesday), at 11:59 p.m. in your local time zone, Trainers will encounter new Pokémon in costumes and never-before-seen ice-type Pokémon. There will also be event-exclusive Field Research, so be sure to play during this limited period for better chances of catching and evolving more Pokémon.
Features to Watch For
- Holiday Costumes - For the first time ever in the Pokémon GO universe, you can catch Pikachu, Raichu, and Pichu wearing beanies and Stantler wearing bells.

- Winter-Themed Avatar Items - Special edition avatar items are also coming to the shop. Catch a Stantler Sweater, a Stantler Headband, and a Beanie Hat to match the one some Pikachu are wearing for this event.
- Ice-Type Pokémon - Look out for delightful ice-type Pokémon that will appear in the wild. Find Sneasel, Delibird, Snorunt, and more! Cubchoo the Chill Pokémon will also make its debut, so watch out.
- Egg-Hatching - Beanie-wearing Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Vulpix, Pichu and bell-wearing Stantler will be hatching from 7 km Eggs.
- Raid Battles - Raichu and Stantler in holiday costumes will be available to challenge in two-star raids.
- Glacial Lure Modules - Throw a Glacial Lure Module onto a PokéStop near you for a chance to encounter Cryogonal the Crystallizing Pokémon in its debut.
- Event-Exclusive Field Research - By participating in event-exclusive tasks, you get the chance to encounter special Pokémon, like beanie-wearing Pikachu.
- Special Encounters - Watch out for Shiny Snover and Shiny Stantler wearing bells.
