This last decade has served up a whole bunch of tasty games for us gamers to sink our teeth into, including Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2, Fortnite, Minecraft, and so many more - check out the list on Polygon for a comprehensive guide to the decade.

But what's the most interesting thing about heading into 2020? All the incredible games and tech we're about to witness in the next decade! Every year brings new surprises to uncover, and while there are still more secrets to unfold in the coming months, here's what we're most excited about next year.

Halo Infinite

Along with the recently announced Xbox Series X console, Microsoft exclusive Halo Infinite is going to be one of the biggest releases of the year. No Halo release goes under the radar, and fans have been chomping at the bit for a new Master Chief and Cortana story after 2015's Halo 5. Expect cutting-edge graphics, wonderful scenery, emotional cut-scenes and many, many aliens to shoot along the way. That catchy soundtrack better be there as well.

Iron Man VR

Sure, everyone likes to watch Iron Man fly around the skies and shoot projectiles out of his hands, but it's way cooler to actually be Iron Man! Iron Man VR hopefully kicks off a new gear for VR gaming, which has been widely touted but has never quite reached the lofty heights everyone expected. We've also got Half-Life: Alyx to be intrigued about with VR gaming. We already have loads of great AR apps and games in recent years, but let's hope VR gets its turn next.

Cyberpunk 2077

After what seems like 800 Call of Duty games (more or less), we're about ready to try out a new FPS game! Cyberpunk 2077 has the looks already, as plenty of in-game footage has been released, but we still want engaging characters, immersive environments, and cool RPG elements to help us build the game we want to play. Adding Keanu Reeves is a great start and we should expect something awesome from the makers of The Witcher games, so fingers crossed that this is a hit.

The Last Of Us II

Just like Halo for the Xbox, TLOU was a Sony exclusive that people went mad for in 2013, only to wait forever and forever for a much-needed sequel. We'll follow Ellie and Joel again, who are a bit older and wiser now, as they fight through a beautifully detailed post-apocalyptic world full of scary zombies and even scarier humans.

Battletoads

The last Battletoads game we saw was in the 90s, so to say that a new title was something the world has been clamoring for would be a massive lie. Still, these side-scrolling beat-em-up games were pretty fun and have a place in the heart of every 90s kid, mostly for the annoyingly hard levels and a controller-smashing difficulty that couldn't be adjusted. We'll wait and see how a 2020 Battletoads gets received, but keep your eyes on this one.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

For anyone with kids out there, it doesn't get much better for entertainment than the combination of Lego and Star Wars. Of course, some adults will get a kick out of this, as the fun and friendly gameplay, the cute, blocky graphics, and the always awesome pew pew pew Star Wars sound effects are nothing you can ever really tire of hearing! This should be the perfect bookend after things are wrapped up in Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.

There are plenty more to be excited about, so let us know in the comments!
